I Will Honour Christmas In My Heart

I will honour Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year.
I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.
The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me.
I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!

Snow Village on the "Mantel", Christmas in the Sitting Room, Christmas Home Tour 2022

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

I am now posting 3 times a week !!!

I will be posting on TUESDAY, THURSDAY and SATURDAY

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

Today, I will be sharing the "Mantel" on my faux fireplace in the upstairs Sitting Room.....

In my last post, I shared my New Tree in the Sitting Room and how I decorated the corner where the Tree is.....

Click HERE if you missed that post....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

This week's Reheat and Eat Dinners from the WB Scranton Pens Food Service.....

I had the jumbo crab cake and rice pilaf...

Joey had Italian Chicken Sciami....

Joe passed on the dinners this week as nothing appealed to him....

 My Picky!!!

We had the Grand Pups overnight the other day....

Since it was in the 20's in the morning, they had their matching sweaters on....

Faye will usually take hers off but she left this one on....

Azumi couldn't care less that she was wearing one.....

Both sweaters do blend right in with my sofa and chairs...

 Faye falling asleep....

She has become quite the lap dog....

Azumi is little Miss muffet, sitting on her tuffet.....

We had our first snow fall on Tuesday evening....

Normally, I would have been outside taking a lot of pictures but the pups were here and Joe was at work so I did not want to leave the pups in the house alone....

It turned to rain and disappeared as fast as it came!!!

I had every intention on sharing the remainder of the Sitting Room in this post today but I realized that because of a few changes I made to the room because of the new Tree, it would be way too long....

So I will be doing a total of 3 posts on the Sitting Room....

I will be sharing just the "Mantel" of my faux Fireplace in this post...

We will start at the door with the wreath I made for this room.....

Again, the wreath on the door matches the color theme of the room which is bright pink, green and aqua along with a few lavender ornaments.....

You can see the "mantel" in this picture....

As I have mentioned in past years in every post I do on this faux Fireplace, this is what it originally looked like...

I found it in my MIL's neighbor's house when she was moved and they were going to throw it out...

When I saw it, I automatically thought......

A Fire Place!!!!!

Yep!!

I turned that into this!!!

This is how I decorated the Fireplace last year for Christmas...

Since all the Trees in the Sitting Room were white....

This year, I replaced this Tree.....

With this new Flocked Tree....

That led to a few changes in the whole room ......

This is the fire place decorated for Christmas this year with a few of those changes.....

I added this flocked garland, matching my new Tree, to the white garland on the Fireplace....

When cleaning out my neighbor Elly's attic for her sons, I found a bundle of vintage Christmas platform fencing!!!!

This is one piece of it.....

I believe that is might be hand made ....

I thought it would be a good back drop for the top of the mantel.....

The fence is along the back of the "mantel"...

I also used this vintage mantel scarf with a tatted white border along the sides and the front....

Let's take a closer look at the Snow Village.....

 On the left side....

I added bright pink snowflakes to the leaves on the wall and snowflake ornaments to the votives on the sconces.....

I kept the crystal pedestal that I used in previous years...

I have bottle brush trees in bright pink, bright green and aqua scattered through out this display.....

I added these aqua and white and these bright pink ones bought at Dollar Tree this year....

I did not use the large pedestal to elevate the Tree in the center this year.....

So I was only able to place my 2 churches that I bought in Target many years ago for $5 on each side of the Tree

I will show in my my next post where I put the 4 smaller houses that I used here in previous years....

I bought the snowmen in Boscov's many years ago....

The Tree was still placed in the center, just not up on a pedestal as in years past....

I had left over flocked garland that I bought to add to the white garland so I made a swag to hang over the top of the mirror....

A vintage tree topper and a bow made from 3 different ribbons, which is the same as on the larger flocked Tree, adorns the top of this 3 foot White Tree ....

It is decorated with bright pink, aqua, green and silver ornaments....

Bright pink tear drop ornaments that I bought at an Estate Sale....

And bright pink, aqua and green striped candy canes...

In the center in front of the Tree....

The silver and aqua churches are ornaments from Dollar Tree that I frosted with snow and the house in the center is also an ornament....

On the right side....

Bright pink snowflakes added to the leaves and sconce on this side....

 The silver church from Target....

 Another crystal pedestal.....

The vintage looking bottle brush trees with ornaments were part of a Martha Stewart Collection that J. C. Penney's only carried for one year as they were then sued by Macy's because of agreements they had with Martha Stewart....

My friend Anne Marie and I bought tons of stuff at Penney's that year because it was a beautiful Collection!!

The white Tree on this mantel was also part of her collection at Penney's.....

Well, so there you have it....

This year's Snow Village on the "mantel" with a few changes.....

Now let's look at how the garland came out....

I bought this 9 ft. flocked garland at Walmart for only $15.88

I search for things online first, and then look if I can buy it in a local store rather than order it online.....

Since I live right next to one of the largest Shopping Areas in the County I live in, I seldom ever have to order online.....

This was the best price for flocked garland.....

I simply added it to my tired looking white garland and revived it!!!

Then I decorated it with the same ornaments that I have used for years.....

I hung 2 large bright pink ornaments on each side....

Also added bright pink stocking ornaments and a bow I made to the center....

I love how the simple addition of the flocked garland freshened up the look a bit.....

And now this area ties in with the new flocked Tree.....

This is one of my favorite rooms decorated for Christmas because of this faux fireplace....

I hope to spend some cozy evenings in here reading after Thanksgiving Day as I will be all done decorating and have the time to do so!!

It took me 4 Days to decorate the Sitting Room

Tree Count

Tree # 9

In my next post on SATURDAY, I will be sharing how I decorated the "hearth" area of the fireplace....

And other areas of the Sitting Room where I also made some changes.....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY as I continue my Christmas Home Tour!!!!

  1. Gosh, how can Joe resist those delicious meals!!! We are putting 1/2 a steer in the freezer so I will be cooking the next 365 days.
I love the mantel with the flocked garland. Really pretty! Just little changes can do so much! I have engaged a 2 grader and a 4th grader who will be spending the night on Thanksgiving (so mom can start Black Friday shopping before dawn) to put my village up for me. They are very excited. I better plug in my glue gun.

  2. Oh Deb, everything is so beautiful and exquisite. You are so creative to see the potential in the old piece of furniture to make it into a faux fireplace. I love how you layer your ornaments and mix the new with the vintage. I always get so many ideas when I drop in for a visit. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the sitting room and the bottom portion of the mantel. Happy decorating. Stay warm and cozy. Hugs

  3. I am in awe of your beautiful sitting room, Debbie! The fireplace is amazing with that white flocked garland! Love the colors of your ornaments and your pretty mantel decorations! The churches are beautiful! Love your shelf that has the little town scenes set up. I did this with my ceramic houses & churches and love how they look lit up at night! Thank you for the inspiration and know I love your decorating tips! I think I may need to do a Walmart run for some of that flocked garland for my mantel in the family room! Does it come with lights or did you add them on your own? Can't wait to see what you do with the hearth area of the fireplace! Love the lighted twigs! It's all SO pretty! Enjoy and have a great day! Oh and your grandpups....SO ADORABLE in their sweaters! :)
