I Will Honour Christmas In My Heart

I will honour Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year.
I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.
The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me.
I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!

Christmas at Big Lot's and New Christmas Buys, 2019

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!
I am so happy that you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog....
WHOA!!!

My first post for the 2019 Holiday Season!!!!

In case, you do not follow my regular Blog, Debbie-Dabble Blog , I had my Knee Replacement Surgery at the end of April and have now retired!!!!
You can read about it HERE

I know I promised to try to post here monthly on the 25th of each month, Rudolph Day but things got so crazy this year and I just did not even think about it!!
Hopefully, next year, I can stick to that promise as I am now retired!!!

I have been scoping out the stores, like I do every year, taking a look at their Christmas decorations to see if anything in particular catches my eye......

Last year, I did pass on some of my decorations to my Niece Renae and our Daughter-In-Law Danielle.....

I have adopted the philosophy that if I buy something new then I need to pass on something else from my Christmas Collection.....

Maybe.....

I have long been a fan of Big Lot's Christmas decorations and this year's Collection has not disappointed......

The store that I go to is just down the street from me and has been recently remodeled......

Let me first say that I am receiving NO compensation from Big Lot's for this post.....

In this post, I will be sharing what Big Lot's has to offer this year for Christmas and I will also be sharing some of the things that I have bought at Big Lot's and in other stores.....

Enjoy Christmas at Big Lot's......

Elegant Wonder Collection
Holiday Cottage Collection
Tinsel Town Collection
Starry Night Collection
Ornaments, garlands and tree skirts.....
Wreaths and Greenery...
Okay!!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing all those pretty things and even if you do not feel the need to buy anything, maybe you got some inspiration as to how you want to decorate using what you have or maybe some crafting ideas like I did!!!

Now, on to what I have bought so far for the upcoming Holiday Season......

Big Lot's has a great Rewards Program.....

After 3 purchases ( no limit on how low the amount is), you recieve a Reward Coupon for $5 off of $15!!

I have also received the same Reward for contributing to a charity at the cash register like a Children's Hospital, my Birthday and Special promotions!

And the Reward can be used for anything including a food purchase so I think it is a good deal because with that coupon, you are getting 1/3 taken up your purchase of $15....

Again, I will NOT be compensated for the post.....

So this is what I have bought so far in Big Lot's......

I used $5 off $15 Rewards coupons when I bought these things....
Now I am not a lover of Farmhouse Decor but I did fall in love with this sign.....
This I will use in the Den......

I am a sucker for bottle brush trees and I loved this dark blue one which I will also use in the Den.....
This plaid melamine tray will find a place in the Kitchen......
Along with this cute red sifter which I plan on doing a floral arrangement in.....
And I will be using this black and white Buffalo check ribbon to make a few bows to use in the Kitchen as part of my Winter decorations.....
The beautiful deep blue velvet like blanket that these items are displayed on was also bought at Big Lot's and is a great addition to our bed!!!

Loved the mugs in this gift set and I will also enjoy the Hot Cocoa too!!!!
That is my haul from Big Lot's so far......

We went to a few Craft Fairs over the weekend and Joe bought this Pittsburgh Pens Snow Man for himself.....
And I bought this cute Snow Man Tissue Holder form my second cousin, Diane, who made it out of a pickle jar!!
These will be kept out all Winter.....
This past Monday, Joe was off and when he has a day off, I have learned not to have anything planned so we hit a few other stores......

I had a great time in Gabes.......

Staying true to my Christmas theme in my Kitchen of Candy, Gingerbread, Baking , etc......

I bought these signs!!!!
I had been scoping out signs for my Kitchen online in Michael's and JoAnn Fabrics and when I saw these and a whole bunch of other signs including Farmhouse style ones in Gabes, I was thrilled!!!!!

I bought these for a fraction of the price that I would have paid elsewhere!!!

This one was $4.99!!!!
So was this one.....
And this one which I will use all winter long was $5.99!!
The Gingerbread man was $2.99 and the cute snowman book was 99 cents!!
The Gingerbread house was also $2.99!!
And this set of red metal huge Cookie Holders were $6.99!!
I plan on hanging these up in the Kitchen since they are so big.....

Sneak peek....
Joe bought this Pittsburgh Pens Hockey jersey ornament for his Pittsburgh corner in our bedroom....
At first we were not quite sure why it came with markers but after opening the package, we realized that you could color in the jersey!!!!

Can I tell you how much Joe enjoyed doing this??????/
You can tell by the smile on his face!!!
He had a great time.....
So much so that he ran back down to Gabes ( it is literally about 5 minutes from our house) and bought himself another one!!!!

Since he was going back to Gabes, I had had time to think about where I could put something so I had him pick up one more sign for me for the Kitchen......

This one was only $9.99!!
I think this is one of the most expensive ones there.....

I did put a coat of polyurethane on all of the signs to brighten them up a bit......

Sneak peek.....
This year, I decided to ditch the 6 foot white Tree that I have used in the Sitting Room for Christmas and then would move downstairs to decorate it for Easter, the Patriotic Holidays of the Summer and then in late Summer, decorate it in an "Under the Sea" theme...

It was starting to look dirty and I felt that I definitely got the $10 that I had paid for it, out of it......

I had also decided that we were now going to leave the 7 foot slim Tree that I use in the Living Room for Fall, Christmas and Valentine's Day there all year round which would save us the trouble of switching Trees.....
So........

That meant I needed another Tree for the Sitting Room and I decided to go with a table top white Tree.....

This is what I found and had my son order from Amazon for me since I am not a huge fan of Amazon but do order things that I can not find elsewhere......
I liked the metal stand instead of a plastic one, it was 4 1/2 foot tall which was the height that I wanted and it did NOT come with lights!!

That is right!!

I did NOT want a Tree that was Pre Lit!!

I truly hate prelit Trees as the lights on them do not last forever and most of them are not energy saving warm white LED lights.....

Plus, I usually end up adding more lights to them anyway.....

One year, after having to cut the lights off of several small trees because they no longer worked, I vowed never to buy a Pre Lit Tree again!!!!!

This Tree was $29.99 with free shipping....
It looked a bit sparse but white Trees always have a tendency to look that way and years ago, I read about a trick to make them look fuller by wrapping white tulle around the center of the Tree which I had also done with the 6 foot one......
I then added over 500 warm white LED lights that I had taken off the Tree that I got rid of....
It fit perfectly on the table in the corner of the Sitting Room.....
It certainly does not look sparse now as I was able to use all the ornaments that I had used previously on the larger Tree......
I am so happy with how it came out!!

During the month of October, I decorated the entire upstairs for Christmas........

There are 10 Trees upstairs.......

Craft Room......
Sitting Room.....
Bathroom.....
Master Bedroom....
And upstairs Hall......
Soon, I will be starting my Christmas Home Tour posts but in my next post, I will be sharing some Christmas crafting that I have been doing......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. Thanks for sharing your trip to Big Lots and showing us all the pretty holiday items! I'm going to pay them a visit real soon! I love looking at all the new stuff and getting ideas for my projects! And it looks like you're well on your way with decorating your home! Everything looks so lovely and christmasy! I love the large cookie cutters hanging. I have been on the look out for a large mitten cookie cutter but have not been able to find one that's bigger than four inches and I've looked everywhere online and in stores.

  2. I know where to come to when I want to get a dose of Christmas cheer, Debbie! Wow!!! The trees are really pretty. I especially love the first two. Can't wait to see what you'll be doing next...

  3. I didn't realize that Big Lots had so much stuff. I have only ever been in one while on vacation in San Diego once and they didn't have half this stuff, of course it wasn't Christmas then either. We don't have one close to us. You really scored on all the new pretties and the new tree is beautiful. You are welcome for the visit and I am fast and furious in the planning stage. Not as far along as you are..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

  4. We don't have a Big Lots here so thanks for the tour anyways. Give me ideas what's out there. Looks like your hubby is enjoying himself painting those Jerseys. My favourite is the Candy Cane Cafe sign. Have fun decorating and I can't wait to see more. Thelma xo

  6. That Big Lots is a wonderful store, judging by your pictures. We don't have it here. I love their pillows! There are so many great things to look at. One could get all kinds of inspiration walking through that store. The red trucks are cute and I love the buffalo check ribbon. Your kitchen will look amazing. You certainly got the jump on decorating, Debbie. I'm going to bring out my four footer tomorrow for the family room and just take my time decorating it. No hurry this year. Why not stop by and I'll add your link to my party. Hugs...Sandi

  7. I love Big Lots. Last year I bought the entire bathroom ensemble with the red truck and Christmas trees. The colors coordinated so well with my dark sage green walls. I received SO MANY compliments. I decided to do the house in a theme this year, lots of grandkids so "Welcome to Whoville". I am having a hard time finding stuff, so I have been on Pinterest boards pinning ideas. We are off to an out of state wedding, but I am getting to work as soon as I return.

    Your home is just lovely!

  8. Oh my gosh how funny I just went to Big Lots today! I, too, bought the buffalo check ribbon and loved that tree sign but I already have a similar one so I restrained myself:) I'm going to be doing a Dollar Tree Treasures post of Christmas items as well as stuff from Wal-Mart. Maybe I'll throw in my Big Lots purchases for good measure lol xo Kathleen

  9. They have some nice things at your store. I love the little Snowmen. Very cute -- and those flocked branches. I don't think ours is so good but I may have to check it out!

  10. So happy to hear that you've recovered from your surgery and are enjoying your retirement! I've been to Big Lots a few times this season, but to tell you the truth I have so much Christmas stuff that I'm trying to not purchase much this year. I'm in the mood to review what I own and figure out what to keep and what to pass on. Then I can start fresh next year (or this year at the after Christmas sales).

  11. Oh my! Now you have me wanting to go to Big Lots! I have found some great things in there before and especially during the holiday season. I need to clean out my Christmas stash. But time...time...time...I need more time! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  12. Loved your tour of Big Lots; we have one 15 min. away and I love it! Especially after Christmas when stuff was 70-90% off. I buy stuff to craft with for the next church fair (ours is Sat.; mixed up a biunch of cooky doughs made from cake mixess and brownie mixes which are in the fridge and made a batch of no bakes this a.m.!). Loved your signs. I want an empty big red truck that I can use year round; haven't found one that I want to pay that much for! El Grincha! Don't believe you have Christmas up already; I finished with Halloween the other day and primped some fall stuff around! Loved your white tree!

I will have to make a trip back there soon. I always look forward to your Christmas decor posts. You have so much pretty and really get into it that is what makes it so much fun. Have a good week.

  14. How fun, I have not looked at any of the Christmas goodies yet in the stores, I have more than I can use now, and I have a problem getting rid of stuff, especially if they have memories to go along with them, plus we have a kitten right now and not sure what all he will get into.

  20. Thank you for sharing all these lovely Christmas goodies available at Big Lots, Debbie! I've had a lot of fun just looking over all they have at your store (I'll have to stop by ours soon!). Love that your hubby found the cute hockey jerseys to color!!! We went to Game 5 of the Texas Stars semi-finals hockey game with Louisiana ~ bummer that they lost but happy that the Louisiana won it all at the Stanley Cup this year!! Anyway, I didn't share at this week's SYS but have already set for Share Your Style #233 for next week (11/20).

    Happy decorating!
    Barb :)
