Welcome to The Evening Tour, Christmas Home Tour 2015!!
I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year!!
Yes, I still have my Christmas decorations up.
It never ceases to amaze me that people are in such a hurry to put away Christmas right after Christmas Day. What happened to holding on to that wonderful Christmas Spirit????
In this area, in which a large population of Eastern European immigrants settled in the early 1900's, it is customary to leave up Christmas decorations until AFTER New Year's Day.
When I was a child, Christmas decorations were left up until Epiphany or the Feast of the 3 Kings which celebrates the day upon which the three kings arrived at Bethlehem, Three Kings Day is twelve days after Christmas Day, and marks the end of the Christmas period.
It falls on Wednesday, Jan. 6, this year.
I will start taking down Christmas on Jan. 7 because that will be my first day off after working a 3 day stretch after this weekend and Joe's parents are coming to visit on Sunday for a Christmas visit.
Now on to the my Evening Tour......

WOW, beautiful decorations. Thank you so much for this post.
ReplyDeleteI have started taking down my decorations as I have so many doctor appointments line up starting nest week, that this is the only time I have available.
Wishing you a wonderful 2016.
Hugs,
Mary
I was so happy to see you had put your Christmas decorations lit up all in one post....gorgeous lit up at night I am going to take mine down just like I put them up....a little at a time. hugs...
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!! You have lots of Christmas Spirit.
ReplyDeleteDeb, I still have my decorations up too, it was always twelfth night we would take take them down as in my childhood, and I stick to that still, like you.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, how amazingly magical it all looks in the evening - I knew it would!
I think my favourite room is the guest room, I do like the frosty glitter of a white tree and swags, plus the enchanting little icy snow scene ornaments. I say that tentatively though because it's difficult to choose one room over another.
Enjoy it til the last moment, I say!
Absolutely breathtaking! Spectacular decor,!!! I love all your houses and the children !!, love your buyers Too! I collect them as well! I just want to know how many bins! ha! Looks like 20!
ReplyDeleteI am very surprised to on how many take their decorations down the day after Christmas, I just don't understand it myself, I love to enjoy the glow of the lights as long as I can, we to will be taking ours down on the 6th. I can't remember how long my parents use to keep theirs up for but after getting married that is what we do. It all looks just beautiful all lit up, it is amazing to me how different a tree can look in the day time and then totally change on take on a different look in the evening when it is all dark out and the lights are all that is glowing!!

Your Christmas home is stunning! Every room and evry nook and crany, better then any magazine decoration... in fact, it belongs in a magazine, but always say that, don't I? I'd love to wake up in your house like a Little girl, or take my grandgirls on a tour.
ReplyDeleteThanks for been my blog friend and have a very blessed and happy new year dear Debbie.

Have a beautiful day, my friend, and Happy New Year!
