I Will Honour Christmas In My Heart

I will honour Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year.
I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.

Christmas Collector's Alley # 3, Master Bedroom Tree (#2)

I am joining Denise Marie over at Christ is the Heart of Christmas for

CHRISTMAS COLLECTOR"S ALLEY # 3

Please stop by and visit Denise and the others playing along. Won't you share with us your Christmas Collections???

Today I am sharing with you Tree #2, what I call my Vintage Tree. This is the tree of my Childhood and it is in the Master Bedroom. It is a 4 foot table top tree.

The vintage ornaments are from the 50's and unfortunately , they are not from my family. My sister told me that my Mother actually threw away the ornaments that we had like these.

These I picked up at Estate Sales and Yard Sales through out the years and put them away for the day I would be able to recreate the tree from my very early childhood.

The topper is a vintage glass blown one!

Most of these ornaments are hand painted.

I even added the silver tinsel from the 50's - 60's. I didn't know they still made it!!!

Underneath the tree is a Plasticville Village, just like the one that my Dad used to struggle to set up , laying on his belly, every year.

If you look to the right on my sidebar, you will see the tree with the village underneath it!!

This is the barn and animals that I played with as a child before Dad set up the village.

The blue and white house always fell apart so one year, my Dad got so mad at it that he glued it together.

The reindeer, figures and the bottle brush trees were also my parents.

Some of the other pieces of Plasticville I bought at a yard sale along with the vintage Putz houses.

Here it is lit up at night. I chose white lights instead of the colors lights.

So that is my collection of Vintage Ornaments and vintage Plasticville.

I have the entire upstairs decorated for Christmas with 5 trees up. The entire downstairs is still Halloween and Fall. It is like you go through a Time Warp when you go upstairs! LOL!!

Stay tuned for more of my 12 trees!!

  1. Debbie, I love the sentimental tree and ornaments. Love that village. It must be fun walking thru the time warp at your home. Christmas is such a warm, fun, family time of year. I love victorian decorated trees but this one of your childhood is so pretty!

  3. Wow, it is perfection!! love the ornaments that you've collected. My MIL gave me 1 box and that was it...I was hooked and NEEDED any strays that I see out and about. lol The plasticville is just amazing. I love the topper. I need to find 1 or 2 olden toppers like that. I gotta start Jake's University of Texas tree and suprise him for our new gameroom. I love the tinsel added too!!

  4. Oh. Oh. OH!!! LOVE the tree and village, and love hearing you tell all about it. I look forward to more trees, and more stories!

My husband put our tree up last night. I'm having some health issues, so it probably won't get decorated with anything but pinecones this year, but it is soooo lovely...he turned the lights on it before he left this morning, so I came downstairs to it softly lit!

  5. Everything is so sweet. I have a small collection of Putz (thanks for telling me their official title!) houses I'm acquiring, and am debating spending actual money on Ebay for more. I love those little things. It occurs to me I also have one of those pink star ornaments coming to me as well, I didn't know quite how old it was, but considering the source, imagine it would be vintage as well. It all looks wonderful, you've obviously put a lot of work into it, that's a very full tree.

  6. Hi Debbie,
My friend, you have created a charming tree with lots of nostalgia; I love it! The village which belonged to your parents is just wonderful and how nice that you still have it! My parents always put a lot of work into making Christmas special in our house. My father built a Rudolph with a red nose which lit up. It always had a place of honour in the front window. I too have wonderful memories of Christmas growing up. Thanks for sharing and for the memories.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  7. Deb,
Thanks for taking me back to my own childhood. Some of those same ornaments were on our tree when I was a child. And the silver (probably lead) icicles were my favorites. The little white deer with the hole on the top, my Mom has 3 of the original ones and the sled that went with them from her mother. Your tree is just beautiful. Tell me your secret energy tip, where DO you get your energy. I went to have my stress test yesterday and they are having me do another EKG for some reason, don't know what that is about. Have a great week my friend.

  14. For years I put up 12-14 trees. Each decorated with a theme. Now with the shop and busy schedule, I only do 5 full size trees. People say, only 5 trees, when 1 suffices. Oh well. I will enjoy seeing all of your trees. Thank you for sharing. I am now a follower to see what fun things you have.

  16. Debbie, I bet this is your favorite tree, because it seems to hold so many memories for you! I love the vintage ornaments, and that little village must have been so much fun to play with. We had a little train set under our tree, and I would play with it for hours, putting my Barbies on the train. Great memories!
    Happy REDnesday!

  26. That is my childhood tree, but I grew up in the 60's. My parents just never bought any new ornaments, just used the ones they had when they were first married. Fortunately I have most of the ornaments and I decorate a tree in my dining room with them.

  30. Debbie,
Thanks for linking up again this week! This tree is AMAZING! I would love to have a collection like yours. There is something so magical about tinsel on a tree. The last couple years we have added tinsel to our tree on Christmas eve (a pain to take off an artificial tree-but worth it).

    Best wishes,
    Tammy

  32. I have some of the same vintage ornaments you have Debbie! And my hubby just put up a model train track in our unfinished area of our basement and added some Plasticville buildings he had as a child. I can't believe Christmas is only 50 days away. Panic will settle in soon for me. But I do love Christmas and always look forward to it. We just added several new outside outlets to help with outdoor Christmas lights. And we have new landscaping in this year so we have a place to put Christmas lights. Have a lovely day dear friend!

  33. Oooh, how very very vintage and pretty! I so love the older ornies, don't you? And the village scene below is adorable. How wonderful that you have so many of your family's original items. What type of base did you use to sit it up on? I love the care you take and the silver tinsel just reminds me so much of my grandparent's trees!

  34. Wonderful vintage tree. At least you have some of the things from your childhood. I have come to realize as my children have grown up, how much they appreciate having some of the decorations from our home to keep for themselves. It is important not to throw away everything! Thanks for your comment.

  35. Fabulous tree. There is no better tree, than one decorated with vintage glass balls, and dangling silver tinsel...in my humble opinion. Love it!

  36. Love the vintage ornaments! It reminded me of the ones my Dad and Mom put on our tree when we were kids....and the icicles...my Dad used to take so much time putting those on the tree...just a few strands at a time and when he was done, it looked beautiful! Love your blog!
