I Will Honour Christmas In My Heart

I will honour Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year.
I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.
The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me.
I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!

Traditional Christmas in the Living Room, Victorian Style Tree and Village, Christmas Home Tour, 2023

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

I post 3 TIMES A WEEK on MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAYS!!!!

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, I will be sharing how I decorated my faux window and the 7 ft. slim Tree in my Living Room along with the village underneath it...

In my last post, I started my Tour of our Living Room decorated for Christmas in a Traditional red, gold and green color theme.....

I shared the corner by our stairs.....

Joe's Great Grandmother's Hutch....

And this Tree decorated with vintage ornaments....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

Here is Joe wearing his new hockey jersey......

It is the jersey commemorating the 25th year of AHL Hockey here in NEPA......

Did I ever mention that Joe has 20+ hockey jerseys.....

I did a bit of crafting.....

I had a bunch of wood and paper mache angels in my stash so I decided to paint them gold, decoupage music sheet paper on them and sprinkle them with gold glitter....

These I glued to gold glittered ornaments bought in Dollar Tree many years ago....

And these to silver ones....

I will be giving them to friends and family and Joey will be also giving some to his fellow coworkers.....

Yesterday, on Thursday, one of my long time friends from our church came over for lunch....

I set a simple tablescape.....

Joe only drinks coffee in the morning so he did not get a coffee mug....

Mary and I , being both nurses, can drink coffee at any time of the day or night.....

Of course, I had a few hand made gifts for her including one of those angels.....

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon , catching up and plan to do this more often......

Mary was kind enough to gift Joe this darling Steeler's light up tree ornament......

She gifted me this sweet book box and inside of it was a Target Gift Card!!!!!

We are Blessed to have such a generous kind friend like Mary.....

Before I continue my Tour of the Living Room decorated for Christmas, I want to share 2 new items....

This is the stock photo of these antique gold bells that I bought in Big Lot's......

These are a hot item on all the You Tube decorating video's.....

They were marked down 25% off so they were $9.74 a piece....

I bought 2 using two $5 off $15 coupons.....

Another new item I bought is this cute throw from Five Below....

My original intention was to use it outside on the porch on the chair that I decided to leave out for the Winter.....

But when I got it home and opened it up, it was much nicer than I thought it would be for $5!!

So I decided to use it in the house instead.....

Today, we are going to start with this wall in the Living Room.....

I will be sharing this large round table in my next post about vignettes in this room....

I wanted to share my faux window in this post along with the 7 ft. slim Tree and my Village....

You can see that I hung those bells on each side of the faux window.....

On the left side......

A few years ago, I made these embroidery hoops......

I do love those bells.....

Gold cherubs in the small wall curio and on the cherub shelf....

More gold cherubs.....

 A plaque I made.....

I have had this large wreath for a few years now....

I took apart an old wreath that I made so I decided to add the red velvet poinsettias from that wreath to this one this year.....

Along with some red and gold stars....

I added a sign and a Santa head in the center of it......

You will see that the bow matches other bows I made for the swags and on the Trees in this room.....

Hanging beneath the wreath is another plaque that I made......

On top of the sofa is a pillow that was a gift from a friend....

On the right side.....

Which mimics the left side.....

The brass candlestick also has a cherub on it.....

The sofa.....

I did wrap green velvet ribbon and tied bows on the red velvet like pillow covers that I made last year.....

I thought they looked really pretty .....

BUT...

Joe has no regard for pillows when he plops on the sofa and just usually sits right on top of them causing the ribbon and bows to look quite whacky on them so I just removed them as I was fighting a losing battle......

As I mentioned, I made both the red and the green envelope pillow covers last year.....

I bought the stocking after Christmas last year and decided to stuff it, turning it into a pillow....

It made me remember that I had this red and green fabric in my stash so I made envelope pillow covers for pillows I already had!!!

I also made the small pillows with the Counted Cross stitch embroidery on them....

There is an ivory throw with an angel on it over the top of the sofa.....

And here is the throw from Five Below......

With the snow flakes on it, I figure I can leave it out for Winter/ Valentine's decorations.....

And here is my 7 ft. slim Tree.......

And the Village on the platform underneath it......

Let's start with the Tree......

I stripped it down to the lights after Halloween was over as I decorate this Tree all year round.....

I added 2 different types of beaded garland.....

I topped it off with a gold reproduction Tree Topper.....

And a Bow made out of ribbon with red and white striped candles on it.....

I added 2 sets of red and green lights to it......

I also left the globe lights on it that I bought in Big Lot's for 90% off at the end of the Summer......

This Tree is decorated with ornaments in red, green and gold Victorian styles ornaments.....

An angel up near the top of the Tree.....

I also added some gold branches to the top of the Tree.....

See the red and white striped candle ornaments that match the ones on the ribbon that the bow topper is made from......

I also tucked gold glittered floral picks into the Tree....

And this is the Tree all finished....

The Tree sets on top of a platform that my Dad made for me when I first got married 45 years ago....

This year, I decided to cover half of a tree collar with a piece of white snow blanket....

I usually create a mountain back drop around the base of the Tree with the boxes of my village houses....

I did so on the sides but had to figure out a new configuration because of the Tree collar....

I played around with the houses....

I did eventually move the larger store on the right to the center....

I started collecting piecesto this Lemax Village in the early 80's when my sons were born....

The church is up near the mountain....

Carolers, alter boys and a nativity set outside of the church...

Down the the Village is a blue Queen Anne Victorian that is the house of my dreams....

A little park in the Village where Santa has come to greet children and shoppers....

 Carrington Department Store.....

 Joseph's Lobster House....

 And a General Store.....

 Up on the mountain.....

 Children sleigh ride....

A Train Station, a Post Office and a Lighthouse.....

The village is surrounded by a Plasticville white fence.....

It reminds me of the wooden fence my Dad build to use around the village on the platform that he built for my childhood tree when I was a kid.....

And as I say it every year when I set up this Village, crawling around on the floor like I remember my Dad doing, I can hear his voice in my head saying "That a Girl" with that tear in his eye!!!

I will continue to set up this Village on the platform that my Dad made for me 45 years ago as long as i physically can.....

Hanging on the Living Room window.....

2 Santa's bought at T.J. Maxx many years ago and a stocking.....

And this is where I will end for today.....

On MONDAY, I will be finishing my Tour of the Living Room and will be sharing all the table vignettes....

Including the top of the TV Entertainment Center which I treat like a mantel....

Next week, I will also be sharing my Powder Room and Nelson Crest , my Victorian Doll House, all decked out for Christmas....

And Stay Tuned for my annual whole house, inside and out, Christmas Home Tour , which I will post on Christmas Day, the 25th.....

  3. Hi Mrs. Debbie! Do you remember me? I ran the Homemaking Party at Classical Homemaking for a long time. I'm thinking about getting back into blogging and have found that many of the old group --- including Mrs. Beverly with Pink Saturday --- is no longer blogging. I do miss it and meeting everyone at the homemaking party. Do you know if someone has taken over Pink Saturday? It looks like her blog is no longer running. I'm happy to see you're still doing all your beautiful photos. If you have the time, could you maybe give me a little update on the state of the blogosphere? Hope you're having a beautiful cozy season!

  5. Those angel ornaments are lovely! My boys (and husband!) tend to throw my throw pillows rather than sit with them on the couch. It drives me nuts!
