Christmas Tree and Vignettes in the Sitting Room, 2021

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

Just a reminder, I will be NOW posting 3 times a week as I realized that in some rooms, there is just too much to share in one post SO until the New Year, I will be posting on SUNDAYS, TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

Thanks Joanne, over at Slices of Life, for choosing my post, Christmas in the Craft Room as one of her features from last week's Encouraging Hearts and Home Link Party!

 Thanks so much, Joanne!!

Please stop by and link up to this lovely  party!!

On to some personal notes...

Since Joey knew I would be cooking on Wednesday and Thursday, he brought home Pizza from Dino's in the Mall right by us..

One with bacon topping....

And one plain....

We have many fond memories of eating this Pizza at the Mall whenever we went to the Movies that used to be there when the boys were growing up.....

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.....

Ours was different to say the least!!!

Last Saturday, Joe started with what I felt was a sinusitis....

This was concerning simply because Joe does not get sick.....

I can probably count on one hand the amount of times that I remember him ever getting sick in the last 45 years!!!!

A cough and sore throat developed along with post nasal drip and he even had a temp. of 99 ONCE but his is usually 97 as a normal.....

Airing on the side of abundant caution , especially since Joey and I were also starting to experience sinus symptoms and the fact that Joe is now out working with the general public again, I pushed for him to get a CoVid test even though our family Dr. did not feel it was warranted.....

On Wednesday, he was tested....

SO......

My dilemma was now what do we do about Thanksgiving Dinner....

Initially, I was going to postpone dinner until Saturday or Sunday...

Until Jim and Danielle told me their Plan B was to get Chinese food for Thanksgiving Day....

All I could think of was the Movie, Christmas Story.....

And my heart sank.....

Turkey should be ate ON Thanksgiving Day no matter what in my mind...

I know people will wait and celebrate Holidays on different days because of family that can not attend on the Holiday itself but I, personally, do not believe in that...

Having to work Holidays for over 41 years and having multiple family members having to do the same, it is what it is and a simple fact of life that you are not always going to get what you want in Life....

So we all agreed that we would continue our Thanksgiving Day tradition of having a turkey dinner ON Thanksgiving Day.....

Never did I think that this great set of Rubbermaid storage containers that Jim and Danielle gifted me in appreciation for taking little Faye to our house on the day they had an issue with their furnace would be used for the first time to deliver their Thanksgiving dinner.....

You can microwave in these and use them in the freezer!!!

So I gathered the ones that I would need to put turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, sausage stuffing and apple pie in

Along with Thanksgiving paper plates and napkins and a container of Cool Whip for the apple pie!!

The one thing I have learned is to roll with the punches and not to sweat the small stuff!!

I changed the wording on a bag from Mission BBQ Take Out for the occasion.....

So instead of their Thanksgiving meal being delivered by Door Dash, it was delivered by Debbie Dash!!!

You also need to have a sense of humor when things like this happen....

We never expected that Joe would get his results back earlier than Friday but Lo and Behold, the email with his test results was waiting for me to open bright and early on Thanksgiving Day morning....

I was right and he tested NEGATIVE for CoVid....

But Joe was still not well and coughing and sneezing so we decided it still was in Jim and Danielle's best interests to deliver their meal to them because they were not ill at all and they have plans to visit Vegas again in a few weeks....

So that was what we did......

They enjoyed thier dinner delivered by Debbie Dash 5 minutes down the road from us and had enough for another dinner today.....

Joe, Joey and I ate at home.....

I set a very simple table as Joey said  "you have to have room for the food"!!!

Yes, you can celebrate Thanksgiving even though the entire house is decorated for Christmas....

I made my Dad's Sausage Filing......

And we had a 10 pound turkey breast....

I baste it with a mixture of butter and Savory Herb and Garlic soup mix....

We are not really dessert eaters and hardly ever have dessert after a meal but we do like apple pie for Thanksgiving Day....

Apple pie, ice cream and Cool Whip compliments of Sam's Club.....

We all enjoyed our dinner and this was all that was left at our house!!!

All that was left from a 10 pound turkey breast....

We are glad that we decided to put the health and safety of all our family above being together on a Holiday....

UPDATE: Joe has been on antibiotics since Friday, Joey started antibiotics on Saturday and I have Pink Eye!!!

For the first time ever!!

I will also be emailing our family Dr. on Monday morning for a course of antibiotics and to show him a picture of my right eye!

Pink Eye is usually a viral infections so they tend not to order any antibiotic opthalmic ointment or drops initially....

Hopefully, since all 3 of us have gotten ill, Joe will stop being such a Republican and start wearing a mask at ALL times and not just where one is required!!!!

In my previous post, I shared the downstairs Powder Room decorated for Christmas and Winter....

Click HERE to see the post if you missed it....

Today, I am sharing half of the upstairs Sitting Room as there were just too many pictures to share it all in one post...

Again, I will be posting now on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for the remainder of the Christmas Season!!

I hang wreaths on all the interior room doors and they match the color theme of the room's Christmas decorations..

This was Jim's room and he put stickers all over the door and when I went to remove them with Goo Be Gone, the finish on the door was removed in spots....

To the left when you walk in the room......

I added bright pink crystal floral picks to this arrangement in the wash stand....

And a velvet rose in bright pink....

A Santa Claus head

I bought this angel at a flea market.....

My son's Christmas books that I used to read to them.....

Some are vintage Golden Books....

Another Santa Head....

A vintage Golden Book of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and a vintage reindeer.....

I hung bright pink icicles and an ornament from the garden chandy....

Several years ago, I replaced the 6 ft. white Tree here in this corner with a 4 1/2 foot table top Tree.....

I decorate this room in bright pink, aqua, green and some silver....

I used ribbons in this color theme for the bow and streamers on the Tree....

I bought this vintage styled topper at Target years ago when I bought the ribbons and some ornaments in these colors after Christmas on Clearance....

I used 3 different types of ribbon.....

This Tree is decorated with vintage Shiny Brite ornaments....

And both of my son's First Christmas ornaments......

There is beaded garland on the Tree in bright pink, aqua and green.....

This year, I set up a simple Putz house village underneath the Tree....

 Some vintage, some new.....

 Lit in the evening.....

This year, I moved the vintage crystal candle holders over here from the mantel.....

And I decorated this crocheted cone tree bought in Bon Ton a long time ago with some bright pink garland....

On the chair next to the table, are my both son's Cabbage Patch Dolls.....

A box that a vintage pair of child's skates came in....

Both my sons loved this timeless story....

 They liked all the Ghosts!!

LOL!!

2 shelf units that I married together.....

I originally did not want a TV in this room but Joey gave me this TV and I have it hooked up to an antenna and get 26 TV Stations....

This angel was also bought at a flea market....

I set up my Plasticville Village here on this shelf this year instead of under the Tree....

The chalk figures were my Mother's as a child....

The blue cottage.....

And barn were my parent's and what I got to play with before they went under the Tree on the platform....

I used to love to play with the Barn animals....

On this shelf is a snow village that I bought in Target Several years ago....

The light up trees are from Dollar Tree and there are 3 vintage putz houses....

A CD player that I use to listen to my hundreds of CD's....

Some of my vintage Christmas Golden Books.....

On a bookcase that my Dad made for me and I painted white a few years ago....

Joe bought the light up village in Bed, Bath and Beyond last year on Clearance and I added a small light up vintage styled tree ...

The trucks were my son's toys and the snowmen were gifted to me by 2 good friends....

The 2 reindeer on this shelf were made by my niece Renae's Father many years ago as little presents for my boys!!

Another shelf unit is next to the bookcase my Dad built.....

Another small but decorated Tree....

Again, decorated in the color theme of the room...

Ice Cream village pieces were bought at Dollar Tree....

Another crocheted tree and a cupcake ornament....

Over in the corner is a corner curio that was my neighbor Elly's....

I keep my Mother's yellow Depression Glass in here.....

And some of my collection of Angels.....

And this is where we will leave off for today.....

On Tuesday, I will be sharing the rest of the Sitting Room.....

  3. We had a similar problem last Thanksgiving; we were supposed to host and I woke up in the middle of night feeling real under the weather and not wanting to expose anyone to germs we had to cancel at the last minute. My parents were going to get take out pizza but thankfully one of my siblings heard what happened and invited them over to share with them. This year went off without a hitch and we had a nice holiday. Sorry to hear everyone has been under the weather there but glad to hear it wasn't covid.
