Vintage Christmas Faux Fire Place in the Sitting Room, Christmas Home Tour, 2020

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

I am FINALLY finished decorating the entire house , both inside and out , for Christmas, meeting my Goal to be done before Thanksgiving Day this year.....

I have tried to accomplish this for many years and always fell short but this year I was determined!!!

And it only took my 33 days to accomplish it!!!!

Yep!!

You ARE reading that right!!

33 Days!!!!

Here is the breakdown:

Upstairs Hall - 1 Day..

Upstairs Bathroom - 1 Day...

Master Bedroom - 2 Days

Craft Room - 2 Days

Sitting Room - 4 Days

Front Porch and Yard - 4 Days

Den - 4 Days

Kitchen - 3 Days

Dining Room - 3 Days

Powder Room - 2 Days

Living Room - 6 Days

Doll House - 1 Day...

  33 DAYS!!!!!!

And people wonder why I say I have to start the upstairs on October 1st!!!!

I did take my time and think about what I wanted to change up a bit ....

Now I plan on sitting back, relaxing, crafting, enjoying Christmas movies and music and reading!!!!

I have mentioned how much I LOVE being retired??????

First, I want to Thank, Naush, over at Doodle Buddies, for choosing my post, Christmas in the Craft Room, as one of her features from last week's Meraki Link Party!!!

Thanks so much, Naush!!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

Today, I will be sharing the rest of the upstairs Sitting Room decorated in a Vintage theme.....

In my last post, I shared the 4 1/2 foot table top Tree in the Siting Room......

The Plastic Ville Village......

This little Putz House Village of sorts.....

And this little Tree and Fairy Houses......

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

The upstairs Sitting Room used to be my son Jim's room.....

Even though the Master Bedroom is 16 ' by 20 ', they were not that generous in the size of the 2 other bedrooms in our townhouse.....

A few years ago, I got rid of the single bed in this room and bought a nice rocker/recliner for myself as sometimes I have trouble sleeping flat so I come in here to sleep......

I also wanted a place to be able to sit and read, especially in the colder months when I can not take advantage of doing so on the Front Porch or back Patio......

As you look into the room.....

Before I show you my faux fire place, I want to show you Minerva!!!

Minerva is a permanent resident in the Sitting Room and since I had an extra tree skirt that I was not using and it was trimmed in the bright pink ruffle that matches this room......

I thought it would make the perfect Winter cape for her!!!!

I fastened it around her neck with a hand made pin that was gifted to me by a dear friend who passed away....

Hanging on the closet door is Joe's Christening Gown , now 66 years old.......

Both our sons also wore that Christening gown when they were baptized....

I have to share this photo of the piece of furniture that I found in my MIL's neighbor's house and when I saw it, I automatically thought......

A Fire Place!!!!!

Yep!!

I turned that into this!!!

This is how it is decorated in a Fairy Garden theme for the Spring and Summer.....

And now, decorated for Christmas!!!

I did change some things up this year.....

When cleaning out my neighbor Elly's attic for her sons, I found a bundle of vintage Christmas platform fencing!!!!

I decided that I was going to use it this year.....

This is one piece of it.....

I believe that is might be hand made ....

I thought it would be a good back drop for the top of the mantel.....

It fit perfectly between the 2 crystal cake stands that I use for elevation in the mantel.....

I placed the Tree up on a wood pedestal like in years past....

But I did decorate it a bit differently.....

I used a vintage Topper and a bow made from the same ribbons as I used on the 4 1/2 foot table top Tree.....

You can see why I chose Bright Pink, Aqua and Green for the color theme of my Christmas decorations for this room by looking at the wall paper border!!

I decorated it in the same color ornaments but did not use as much as other years as I added them to the other smaller Tree....

I added these bright pink teardrops, which I bought at a flea market, to this Tree.....

On the pedestal that the Tree is set on......

2 Snow Men, 2 bright green bottle brush trees and a vintage reindeer....

On each side ......

A sconce and on this side, a vintage lucite hand mirror.....

On the other side......

A vintage plate that my Mother received as a gift from her Great Aunt when she was a girl.....

My Mother would have been 101 years old this year.....

Behind the door, is the Calendar.....

It is a generic Calendar but I simply tape pictures that I have saved from other Calendars to it....

Love this Victorian picture!!

For a few years now, I have set up a "Village" on the mantel.......

 The left side......

 On a crystal pedestal......

The bottle brush tree was bought at J.C. Penney's.....

The silver church is an ornament from Dollar Tree and the white house is one of 4 bought at Ollie's several years ago......

The blue church is one of 4, another silver one and 2 pink ones, that I bought at Target many years ago at 75 % off....$5.00 each!!!!

One of the best bargains I ever got!!!

The center......

I bought the Snow Men at Boscov's.....

The brown and blue houses in the background are also from Ollie's....

The silver church bought at Target for $5.00!

On the other crystal cake stand.....

 Let's look at the garland.......

I have decorated the garland with ornaments in bright pink, green and aqua......

Bright pink tinsel garland is woven through the white garland......

Bright pink stocking ornaments, icicles and candy canes.....

A bow in the 3 different types of ribbons used on the Trees in this room......

In the "hearth" area of the fire place.....

If you look to the back, you can see that I also placed another piece of the vintage fencing in the hearth area.....

A Santa head and a putz house on top of a large white lantern.....

The lantern is flanked by battery operated branch trees.....

A box with a white house on the lid is inside of the lantern......

In front of the"hearth"......

My Teddy Bear Tea party.....

Another vintage golden book......

A white sled that I painted and tied bright pink garland in a bow to on the right side....

And now how it looks in the evening.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated the Sitting Room this year, using some vintage items that I collected and inherited over the years.....

I hope to get to spend some time, relaxing in this recliner with my feet up, looking through all the Christmas books and magazines that I have collected over many years....

And that completes my Tour of the entire upstairs decorated for Christmas....

Up next on my Christmas Home Tour, we will go back downstairs and I will show you my Sweet Treat Christmas Kitchen!!!!

I had so much FUN decorating this room.....

  1. I just love the garland on your Faux Fireplace. It immediately caught my eye! So pretty. I am taken with your houses, too. I have a pretty good sized village with lots of accessories. Now that I have grandchildren, I let them help me set it up and even play with it when their parents aren't here to say no. Pieces get broken, but that is why there is glue. I will say this has been a brutal year already with some of my people suffering bad injuries. It may revert to houses only soon.

  2. Debbie, I haven't been by lately but we had a bit of an emergency a couple of weeks ago when my sweet hubby had a stroke. But he is doing better now, thank goodness! I am always amazed at your decorating. The ornaments and lights and just the whole atmosphere must bring you delight, especially in the evening when you turn the lights on. I also had a peek at your previous posts and I saw your son and daughter-in-law's sweet little pup. He is going to get a lot of attention, I just know. What fun! I have another party going until Christmas and you are welcome to join if you wish. I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving this week. Hugs

Who would have thought to put the tree skirt there? Of course, you would and it looks adorable! I especially love the teddy bear tea. Teddy bears are my thing and what a cute set up. You always put me a good mood with your fun displays. Happy happy Thanksgiving!!!

  4. My goodness so much to see and admire. I loved the cape and the pin, the village and the gorgeous teddy bear picnic. I had yo scroll up and down a couple of times to take it all in. I am not surprised to see how long it takes for you to decorate, there is so much. A true feast for the eyes.
