I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!
The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........
I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....
This will be the first Thanksgiving that I met my Goal of having the entire house, both inside and out, decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving.....
This prompts people to ask me if I "celebrate" Thanksgiving at our home.....
I have cooked Thanksgiving Day dinner for my little family for the last 25+ years and that was with either working the Eve or the Day of the Holiday because I worked Night Shift.....
We always split ours Holidays on that shift so no one would have to work the night before and go home at 7:30 am on Thanksgiving morning and have to go back into work again for 11 pm on Thanksgiving night!!!
Same went for every Holiday so I never had the entire Holiday off until I retired after 37 years of working night shift....
I cook and have dinner here for my family for EVERY holiday.....
So YES!!
We very much celebrate Thanksgiving here at our home no matter how it is decorated!!!
Joe and I are very Grateful that we will be celebrating the Holiday as we always have, with our kids....
I know the Guidelines are to celebrate with only those in your own household but our son, Joey, eats dinner here every day, spending at least 5 hours daily here....
And now that Jim and Danielle are the proud puppy parents of this little fur bundle of joy, Faye, Joe and I are going at least 5 mornings a week to their house to leave Faye out and assist in her "potty training" while they are at work since they leave for work at 3 am!!!!
Faye will be visiting us this Thanksgiving Day and spending time in her play pen so we can eat without trying to keep an eye on her!!

Today, I will be sharing how I decorated the Kitchen in a Candy and Gingerbread theme starting off with my Sweet Treat Tree and Hutch......
Last year, I went back to my roots , using this theme for Christmas in the Kitchen, which works well as my Kitchen is red...........
I do have a few new things to share with you in the Kitchen this year as I really had time to think about how I wanted to incorporate Baking more into the decorations.....
We will start here on the left side of what I always call my focal wall as it serves no purpose whatsoever except for decoration!!!
I hung the valance that I made last year out of vintage fabric between the Kitchen and the hall to separate the different colors of the walls.....
On the side of the Hutch.....
I taped a Christmas card over the tile at the top of this chalkboard.....
And simply placed this "Santa's Sweet Shop" chopping Board over the chalk board, covering it......
I added a vintage mason jar filled with peppermint sticks to the milk bottle carrier that is here year round.....
And this is my Sweet Treat Tree......
It fits perfectly in this corner next to the Hutch.....
I forgot about them last year!!!
There is also peppermint patty garland on the Tree....
And a whole bunch of Kitchen, Gingerbread and Candy ornaments!!!
A chocolate Baker Nut Cracker
A large Candy Cane and a peppermint patty ornament hang in the center of the Hutch....
A ceramic Santa and a cookie jar along with a vintage masher, an egg cup and a jello mold..........
This Santa I bought in Gabes last year because I liked that he had a green and white striped shirt on!!
The bottom shelf......
This vintage yellow ware ( yes, it is green yellow ware) bowl is filled with cookie cutters, a mason jar, a loaf pan and Kitchen utensils and sits here on the Hutch year round......
I did it over and added some candy and berry picks......
I bought this Santa at Cracker Barrel a few years back.....
A glass canister filled with Christmas candy topped with a gingerbread man....
And a peppermint patty candy jar bought at a flea market.....
On the desk part of the Hutch is Santa's Sweet Shop!!!!
On the left side are some apothecary jars filled with Christmas gum balls, peppermints and gum drops....
A vintage styled card cut from a candy box is taped to the side above the Gum Drops....
Cup cakes dishes.....
This sweet tiered dish was gifted to me last year by 2 dear friends that I will miss having over for our annual Christmas visit and home tour.....
I have faux pastry, gingerbread cookies, pie and ribbon candy ornaments and real candy on it!!
On the right side......
Another apothecary jar, cup cake dishes and a lollipop ornament.....
Underneath the desk area of the Hutch......
On top of a vintage metal picnic basket.....
A copper lantern.......
A red sifter that I filled with a floral arrangement.....
On the right side of the Hutch......
Below the shelf......
The Gumdrop road sign was bought at Gabes.....
And the candy wreath was bought from a local craft vendor that I know.....
Hanging on the side of the Hutch is a vintage Christmas apron......
And on the shelf above what used to be the back door but is now the door to the Den......
I bought this new tray in Dollar General this year.....
I left my vintage vasoline glass goblets on the shelf and added a few candy ornaments.....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated the main Tree and the Hutch in our Kitchen.....

I just love your kitchen. I am filing ideas for next year. I am really in love with the sign on the desk area of your hutch. I will have my eye out for something similar once I can start shopping again!! Your kitchen is just lovely.

ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your kitchen tree! The way you did the ribbon looks like big pieces of ribbon candy. So incredibly cute. So glad you have your family close by. Congrats on your new grand puppy too. We have our son here but our daughter is out in San Diego. I am counting the days until she comes home for Christmas! Thanks for another great post!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand why you have to start so early putting up Christmas decorations, but I still like to have my Thanksgiving decorations up for Thanksgiving and then start the Christmas stuff after. Everything looks so festive and fun, so nice that you are able to have the whole family together, hope it was a good day!
ReplyDeleteI almost always decorate the same way each year too; though I tried really hard to shake things up this year. We even put our tree in a "new" area of the room. You have so many yummy looking treats in your kitchen-- even if they are fake! Thank you for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home.
