Christmas in the Sitting Room, Faux Fireplace, 2019

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!
I am so happy that you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog....

In my last post, I shared my new Tree in the upstairs Sitting Room........
 And a few vignettes.......
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Today, I will be sharing how I decorated my faux fireplace in the Sitting Room, completing my Christmas Home Tour of the Upstairs.......

This is what my faux fireplace originally looked like............
This was a strange piece of furniture that was in one of my MIL's neighbor's house that they were going to throw away...

When I saw it, I immediately thought Fire Place Mantle!!

It sat in our storage shed for 5 years until I finally had somewhere to put it.....

I actually do not have a wall downstairs where I could have put it so I had to wait until my sons moved out and I had a spare room.....

The Sitting Room was my son Jim's room that I set it up as a guest room and I realized that in 41 years of marriage, we have never had a guest...

Like Joe said, if that situation should ever arise, there is a hotel at the top of our hill in front of our house where they can stay!!

So the bed was moved out and a recliner moved in and it became a Sitting Room for me rather than a guest room......
This is how I decorated it in the Summer when this room is set up with a Garden and Fairy theme because of the bright colors......
And this is what it looks like now , decorated for Christmas.....
I decorate this room also in bright colors for Christmas and as you can see, the colors match the border......
On top of the mantle, is a small white Tree.....
I have placed it on top of a wooden pedestal.....
It is topped with a bow made out of the same multi colored ribbons that I used for the bow on top of the larger Tree shown in my last post.....
And a vintage glass topper.....
I decorated with small ornaments in the colors of green, brite pink, aqua and silver........
Other years, I hung brite pink icicle ornaments on this Tree but this year, I added them to the larger Tree instead.......
I did encircle it with brite pink wired garland.....

On top of the pedestal are 2 snowmen and an angel with several brite green bottle brush trees......
Every year, I set up a little Village on the mantle......
This year, I added some different houses to the Village.....
To provide some elevation to the Village scene, I have used crystal cake pedestals on each end of the mantle.....
On this cake pedestal, are bottle brush trees, a snowman and one of the houses that I bought many years ago at Ollie's for $2.99 each....
I had previously used them downstairs in the Den and last year, I used them under the 6 foot Tree that I had in this room but got rid of this year.........
This silver church was one of 3 churches that I bought at Target on Clearance after Christmas for $5.00 each.....
In the center of the mantle......
Another one of the houses that I bought at Ollie's......
The snowmen on the mantle were bought years ago in Boscov's.........
In the center is an aqua church which is actually a Dollar Tree ornament......

Another house from Ollies.....
I just love the cute Santa's on each house.....

On the other side......
Another church that I bought at Target many years ago for $5.00 each.....
The other cake pedestal.....
More bottle brushes, a snowman and one more house.....
I wove a set of battery operated clear snowflake fairy lights through out the display......
I added a white garland to the mantle and decorated it with all solid colored ornaments this year......
In the center, is another bow that I made.......
I also added brite pink teardrop ornaments.....
Brite pink stocking ornaments, snowflake ornaments and 2 very large brite pink ornaments hang on each side of the garland.....
I also decorated the "hearth" area......
There is a large mirror that I placed in the back of the hearth area......
A large lantern sits in the middle......
On top of the lantern is a Santa head......
 And a vintage putz house.....

Inside the lantern is a white box with a putz house on top of it.....
2 white LED battery operated branch trees flank each side of the lantern.....
An angel in a brite pink dress that I bought at a flea market sits on one side.....
In the center, are Mr. and Mrs. Bear having a Tea Party with their pet dog.....
On the other side is a white sled.....
Brite pink and white candy canes hang from the knobs of the doors on each side.....
I enjoy sitting in my recliner, reading or looking through all my decorating magazines and looking at my faux fireplace.....
I hoped you enjoyed seeing it too......

This room took me 3 days to clean and decorate....

The Upstairs of our townhouse was decorated in October, before Halloween.....

So far, this is how long it has taken me to decorate the house up to this point...

Upstairs Hall- 1 Day

Master Bedroom- 2 Days

Upstairs Bathroom- 1 Day

Craft Room-  2 Days

Sitting Room-  3 days

Total 9 Days......

I hope you enjoyed my tour of the upstairs of our townhouse decorated for Christmas.........

One of our Christmas Traditions is seeing Trans Siberian Orchestra in concert....

Some people go to see The Nutcracker, we see Trans Siberian Orchestra....

I did have the pleasure of seeing the Nutcracker for the very first time last year when my Great Niece Caitlin performed in it as part of her Dance Recital and we are looking forward to seeing her perform again this year especially since she is dedicating her performance to her Dad, my late nephew John....

Trans Siberian went back to the original story that they told in the very beginning 21 years ago....

It was an amazing show and if you have ever attended their Christmas Tour, you know the light show was absolutely spectacular!!

Here are a few pictures that I took......
We have now seen TSO at Christmas for the 18th time!!!!

In my next post, I will be moving downstairs with my Christmas Home Tour and I will be sharing the Kitchen all decked out in a candy and gingerbread theme.......
I made a lot of changes......
Bought a few new things.....
 Re-arranged almost everything.....
And returned to my roots in keeping the Kitchen decorated with the original theme that I loved for so many years.....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

I am just getting caught up on my responses to your kind comments as this week I  spent a few hours sitting in waiting rooms while family members had some procedures done and we did attend the TSO concert.......

It was a bit of a busy week but I am catching up so please forgive me...

  1. That mantle is amazing, what a creation and the way you decorated it is outstanding. I love all the treasures and that garland made of ornaments is stunning. Great colors. And I have never seen TSO, but my cousin is a huge fan and she made us a CD of their music a few years ago. We listen to it during the holidays. It's great! Happy Thanksgiving!!

  2. Stunning Christmas decor with every detail planned. I would have thought I was in heaven to have seen all these pretty decorated rooms as a child. My family and friends did very little decorating. The decorations were a tree and wreath that's it. On Christmas Eve we hung our stockings. Your family is so lucky to get blessed by your beautifully decorated home for Christmas.
    Merry Christmas,
    Kippi
