A Blue Christmas in the Powder Room, Christmas Home Tour, 2022

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

I am now posting 3 times a week !!!

I will be posting on TUESDAY, THURSDAY and SATURDAY

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

Today, I will be sharing how I change my Pink Victorian style Powder Room into a Blue Winter Wonderland.....

In my last post, I shared the rest of my Kitchen decorated for Christmas, continuing my Christmas Home Tour!!

Click HERE if you missed that post....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

In my last post, I revealed that I have now lost 36 pounds in 6 months....

I was not able to button this jacket in the above picture before....

And I have not worn this leather coat since I stopped working in 2019!!

This is what I wore to Mass on Sunday morning....

We went out shopping on Monday morning and I was thrilled to not only be able to fit in my Christmas sweaters but I can zip this one up!!

This is a leather jacket that was $80 in Penney's but with coupons and post Seasonal Clearance, I paid only $12 for a few years ago!

I know I have not only lost pounds but I have lost a bunch of inches!!!!

Especially off my thighs from walking for exercise.....

I will be donating 11 pairs of dress slacks, a few sweaters and a jacket, that are now too big on me, to a local Church Thrift Boutique....

No, I am no longer keeping 3 sizes of clothes....

Luckily, I can now fit into 4 pairs of dress slacks that I bought when I lost 55 pounds after being told I needed a Knee Replacement over 10 years ago....

AND......

These black LEE jeans were my Goal piece of clothing....

These jeans were the lowest size I own and I can now finally fit back into them!!!

So that means that right now, I am no longer wearing Plus size jeans and slacks!!!

I also have a huge bag of casual clothes that I will be taking to a local Soup Kitchen which also has a clothing room for the Homeless....

Before I started on my Journey toward a Healthier Life, I was going to donate this clothing anyway as I figured I would never fit into them again and I wanted to decrease the amount of clothes I have for my Retirement years because I really do not need all these clothes!!

My GOAL for December is to just NOT gain any weight over the Holidays and I will pick it all up again with the first of the year....

I would like to lose a total of 60 -65 pounds by next June 1st....

I feel that would be a healthy weight for me and one I can hopefully, attain and maintain....

As always, I hang a wreath I made on the door of each room that reflects the color theme of the Christmas decorations of that room.....

This is the wreath on the door of the Powder Room.....

And a stocking that I embellished......

Over a decade ago, I painted the Powder Room gray because I considered it a neutral color....

That was way before the whole farmhouse craze with gray being the main color....

The gray allows me to change the colors of my decorating pieces and create totally different looks in this Powder Room....

This is what the Powder Room looked like decorated as my "Elegant Lady's Boutique" in the Spring and Summer.....

For Fall/Halloween, I added pink, black and white decor items....

Right after Halloween, I stripped down the entire room.....

Over 15 years ago, I started to Collect Snow Buddies made by Enesco.....

I liked that their colors were blue and white because I could use them in the Powder Room.....

This is what my Powder Room looked like in 2010 before I painted it gray....

I was featured in the local newspaper because I had a Christmas Tree in the Bathroom!!

LOL!

As you can see, a lot has changed!!!

Let's start above the door....

This is a swag that a friend, who used to own a Gift Shop, gifted me.....

I clipped Birds on to it....

I am frequently asked where I got the corner door frame Angel Hugger....

It was one of my yard sale finds many years ago!!

I hung a blue Angel ornament above an old Home Interiors shelf....

The vintage silver candle sticks are yard sales finds....

The lighted silver mercury glass tree is one of a set of 4 , bought at Sam's Club....

Many of the Snow Buddies have a special meaning for me and the one with the suitcase depicts the traveling we used to do when the boys were young.....

All the shelves and wicker pieces in this room were yard sale and flea market finds that I painted black to match the wall paper border that you saw from 2010!!

 Under the shelf....

A Home and Garden Party picture....

 And a Salvation Army plate ( $1.00)

Monogrammed finger towels that I bought this year in Big Lot's!

When we remodeled the Powder Room, I loved this medicine cabinet because I could decorate the top of it!!!

Snow Buddies and silver houses which are actually ornaments....

This year, I placed the silver Dollar Tree bottle brush trees in silver mercury glass votive holders....

To the right of the medicine cabinet.....

Remember the silver frames with the Elegant Ladies wearing hats in them????

I took out those graphics and replaced them with Christmas Cards and hung them.....

Zero cost!

On the shelf unit above the toilet....

Top shelf....

The silver mercury glass finial in the center is from J.C. Penney's.....

The blue bottle brush trees were bought at Target.....

And the white doilies are to mimic snow!

This shelf is Joe's shelf.....

Penguin Hockey!!!!

I taped a pretty Christmas card to the wall as back ground!

Ice skate ornaments are hanging.....

The Penguins were bought in a Christmas Shop down in Nazareth, Pa. when I was visiting friends!!

I am using light gray towels for the winter months and bought new blue towels this year after several years of not being able to find them for Christmas.....

For Winter....

 And for Christmas....

I also had Joe look for new light gray towels.......

To match the light gray rugs he bought.....

These are part of the Broyhill line in Big Lot's....

On top of the toilet....

The Snow Buddy on the right is falling and says Oops!"...

I have always said that I have fallen in some of the best places!!

The estagere in the corner......

Yes, I have anchored this 3 foot Tree to both the estagere and the tole tray hanging in the corner.....

This year, I am going to show you how I decorated this Tree, which is in a very odd spot....

After adding 2 sets of battery operated lights, I first put on blue and silver beaded garland after anchoring the Tree as the Snow Buddy ornaments are very heavy, especially being that they are all being placed in the front of the Tree....

The branches going right through the estegere....

The Tree is topped with a bow and silver branches tucked in on both sides!!

I then a tucked in tufts of Buffalo Snow to fill in bare spots.....

Then I tucked in blue berry picks....

Then I a dded silver ball ornaments....

And put the lights on!!!

With just the warm white LED white snowflake lights on and the blue and white icicle ones turned off....

A white and silver tree skirt is wrapped around the base of the Tree.....

And I did set up a mini village underneath the Tree....

I also set up a mini snow village on the shelf under the Tree....

I even have Snow Buddy pins that I pinned to the tree skirt!

The small blue house and silver church are ornaments....

Several Snow Buddy Santa ornaments....

The Blue larger church was bought in Target....

I lit the village with a set of mini fairy lights....

Next to the estegere......

Is a small stand.....

The battery pack for the fairy lights for the snow village is tucked into the hurricane lamp and I placed a vintage blue Shiny Brite ornament on top to hide it....

Some ornaments and snow tree tea lights that Joe bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond years ago!

Another wall shelf.....

On each side of it....

For those that follow me on FB, I never found the silver mercury glass owls I was searching for so I guess I inadvertently packed them away with the Winter decorations....

So I adjusted things because I was not getting into that...

Now I almost had a terrible mishap.....

I usually place the silver mercury glass trees on these small glass shelves....

And i went to do so with the left one when the nail pulled out of the wall from the weight and the shelf swung to one side!!

Luckily, while standing on a step stool, I managed to catch the tree but the glass from the shelf fell and smashed into a million pieces!!!!!

After I put wall anchors in for both shelves to assure that this would not happen again, I put my "Thinking Cap" on, as my Mother would have said!

Now what did I have in my stash to use to replace this glass without spending any money???

I had white poster board which I cut to size and replaced the glass on both shelves!!!

I placed gray doilies from the Dollar bins in Michael's over them and problem solved!!!

Now when I was fixing the shelves, I placed the trees on top of the shelf unit and when I stepped down and back, I liked the way they looked with the blue slate!!!!!

Yes, that is an outdoor Winter slate!

The Snow Buddy is named Hill Thrill.....

And reminds me of many days sleigh riding down the hill in front of my childhood home!!!

On the shelves.....

Top shelf....

This Snow Buddy with the tool belt is for my Dad , who was a carpenter by trade.....

This one is for me because of all the projects I have done and says "Remodeling"!!

And this Snow Buddy, carrying the buckets, is for my Mother who had a wringer washer for the longest time and emptied it with buckets which she lifted and threw out the cellar window, causing her to have surgery for hernia repair!!!

The bottom shelf......

This one is for both Joe and I...."Shop Till You Drop" as we used to go on weekend shopping trips when the boys were young....

And of course, "Charge" went with that!!!

" Tea Party" is for me because of my love for hosting Teas at my Home and being a hostess numerous times for our church's Harvest Tea......

Below the shelf unit....

I accented a Dollar Tree frame with silver glitter and placed a Christmas card inside of the frame.....

Don't you love how the shadow of the doily from the shelf above looks like a black doily!!!

And last, the swag that a friend gifted me is hanging above the closet where the washer and dryer is.....

I hung a Santa ornament and Dollar Tree snow flakes and icicles from it.....

And that completes the Tour of my Powder Room and I hope you enjoyed a bit of a trip down memory lane!!

It took me 2 days to decorate the Powder Room....

 Tree Count...

Tree # 13

  4. Debbie, that's wonderful that you can fit into your smaller clothing! Isn't it nice to shop our own closets??!!! Congratulations! I'd say donate ALL the bigger stuff and don't keep any of it, and keep doing what you are doing. <3 I love how you've decorated your powder room!! It turned out really cute. :) I am happy to share it this evening at Share Your Style #371 for you! Lately, I've had over 100 posts to choose from so I am just picking the very best. Love your sweet angel and the little blue capped snowmen!!! I have one of those snowmen somewhere... Hubby had decided he wants to keep all my Christmas decor downstairs (not in the attic) so I'll be finding the snowman soon!

    Enjoy your pretty home,
    Christmas hugs,
    Barb :)
