Christmas Vignettes in the Living Room, 2020

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

Today, I will be completing my Room by Room Christmas Home Tour by sharing the rest of our Living Room decorated for Christmas....

But first, Thanks to Barb, over at French Ethereal, for featuring my post, A Pink Victorian Christmas in the Dining Room, from last week's Share Your Style Linky Party!!

Thanks so much, Barb!!

And I also want to Thank, Pam, over at An Artful Mom, for choosing my post, Gingerbread Land, Beverage Bar and more Christmas in the Kitchen, as one of her features from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Linky Party!!!

Thanks again, Pam!!

Please stop by and link up to these wonderful parties!!!

We had a little bit of snow last week with a storm predicted for Wednesday of this coming week!!!

This is from what was supposed to have been a dusting of  snow but turned into about 3 inches for us......

I LOVE to shovel and always have because as a kid, I was the one who shoveled all the sidewalks and my parent's driveway.....

I always joke that when I got married, my Dad bought a Snow Thrower!!

Joe bet me to the shoveling even though I wanted to do it but I think he is afraid I will fall......

Here he is shoveling our next door neighbor's as he has a multitude of medical issues.....

Again, this happened AFTER I did the post on our front porch and yard so I just had a share a few more pics with snow!!

Nothing prettier than Mother Nature "painting" her Trees a bit!!

Those were Trees from my back yard, front of the house, the woods and the street.....

In my last post, I shared how I decorated the 2 main Trees in the Living Room and the area surrounding them.....

Today, I will be sharing the rest of the Living Room decorations......

We will start at the front door when you walk in......

To the left is Joe's Great Grandmother's Hutch......

But before we go any further, let's look back at the door......

It is a metal door that I did a faux wood stain treatment on about 20+ years ago....

The pediment on top was painted white, bought at a yard sale and I stripped it and stained it.....

Hanging from the curtain rod are red, green and gold beads and a Santa.....

For many years now, I have always put a cane in the corner by the door, just like Kris did in the movie "Miracle on  34th Street"  which is one of my favorites and I think I have seen every version of it.....

Oddly, that was the straight cane that I used after my knee replacement surgery.....

A vintage standing ash tray is where we put our keys when we come home.....

The large red leaves in the brass bucket were FREE after a tornado destroyed a furniture store near us....

Joe pulled them out of a trash bin and brought them home!!!

There is a battery operated LED branch inside of the arrangement so they light up nicely in the evening....

There are shelves on each side of the hutch.....

I added Christmas candle rings to the existing beaded ones on the double arm brass sconces.....

And new this year, I moved the bell that I bought last year over to these shelves.....

On the other side of the hutch....

I bought the bells in one of my favorite shops to visit at Christmas, Country Folks....

Unfortunately, they are closed for this season.....

Last year, I decided to move all the Nativities that I had displayed in this Hutch to other places and display my Praying Santa Collection in the Hutch instead.....

Last year, I wasted my time putting red and green dishes in the Hutch that could not be seen anyway so I abandoned that plan this year......

So pretty much the theme here is Church and with Church, comes Choir Boys!

A few years ago, my friend Anne Marie gifted me these beautiful vintage Choir Boys that I saw in an Antique Co Op.....

They are perfect here on top of the Hutch......

Along with the gold glittered churches Joe bought on Clearance one year in Burlington......

I hung red and gold stars that Joe also bought on Clearance for $1.00 a pack, on the garland above the antique mantel mirror.....

In the center of the hutch is a swag that  I made......

A set of battery operated lights that remind me of snow balls are strewn across the top of the hutch.....

An ornament of the nativity hangs from the center of the hutch...

I believe these Choir Boys to be from the 1940's or 50's.....

As I said, the inside of the hutch holds my Praying Santa Collection and 3 sets of white and gold angels that were from Sam's Club....

On the top shelf in the center, is a gold filigree metal church that Joe bought on Clearance one year in Bed, Bath and Beyond.....

Taped to the church in the front is a personalized Christmas Card that I sent out many years ago when our sons were young.....

That is what started the entire Collection.....

On the Middle shelf displayed in the center is the book I bought and used to read to my sons, titled Santa and the Christmas Child......

Also in the center of the middle shelf is a figurine of the Praying Santa.....

In the center of the bottom shelf in a frame, is the inside of the Christmas Card that I had sent out, Along with a smaller figurine and a small picture frame of the Praying Santa....

2 different types of gold mercury glass candle holders are on the top shelf.....

The gold cones on the middle and bottom shelf are from Dollar Tree....

And I also added red and green ball ornaments here and there......

On the steps next to the hutch.....

Are some of my Old World Santa Collection.....

Hanging on the wall above the Santa's......

Is a lighted canvas and a Santa Ceiling Tile ...

I bought the Santa dressed in green in Target because I liked the uniqueness of his green robe....

This one is an Alpine Santa from Sam's Club......

These 2 were also bought at Sam's Club.......

I featured the other side of the stairs and this corner of the Living Room in my last post.....

Click HERE to see this post if you missed it....

Over by the Dining Room......

Is the vintage table and nostalgic styled stereo system.....

On top of the table....

I bought these Santa's last year on Clearance in Boscov's and put them under glass here....

I love this snow globe that I bought at a church flea market.....

2 vintage cups.....

A vintage Christmas tea cup and saucer.....

Inside a vintage cup , sits my 2 childhood Knee Huggers.....

This is actually a cart on wheels.....

I  love the cubby holes that it has to use for display.....

On  the far left....

In the center......

On the other side......

Did you recognize some of the thread spool trees that I recently crafted????

Click HERE  if you missed the post where I shared them......

On the floor by the chair are 2 of my Christmas Bearington Bears....

Above on the soffit between the Dining Room and Living Room.....

I made these embroidery hoops last year......

In the corner by the Dining Room is this large round table.....

On the wall above the table........

A Santa hanging from the curtain rod on the faux window.....

For many years now, I have placed this large ornament inside of my brass angel candle stick.....

Joe bought a $1.00 chance on a raffle at our church for this Nativity set about 15 + years ago and won it!!!!

I had it displayed in the Living Room hutch for several years but last year, I moved it to this table.....

I hung this ornament on the lamp shade of this vintage lamp.....

A Noel ornament.....

This is Joe's Mother's clock that she received as a gift when she retired at 55 years old....

Why did she give it to me????

Because she was afraid that her 2 daughters would sell it and she knew i would keep it....

The faux window I made out of a large mirror that I could not get off the wall.......

I like to hang seasonal wreaths on this "window"

I received this $160 wreath for free from Tree Classics to do a review Blog Post on it several years ago and was able to decorate it as I chose to......

I simply added some poinsettias and gold berries to it and hung a vintage styled plaque that I made in the center of it......

Hanging below it is a plaque that I recently bought at Dollar Tree and embellished with red tinsel trim......

And on the other side......

Another Santa......

In the corner is my Tree that I keep up and decorate year round, all decked out for Christmas...........

And the Village underneath it.....

Click HERE to see this post if you missed it....

On the side of the TV Entertainment center is a vintage 3 tiered table that my MIL took from one of her relatives homes for me!!

On the top of it.......

I bought that plate in Salvation Army......

Mica snowmen......

Vintage putz houses and a  set of mini Thomas Kinkade ornaments.....

Middle shelf......

My Mica angels.......

More of the thread spool trees that I made......

The bottom shelf......

Mica Santa's.....

Putz houses......

A Lenox House gifted to me by a friend....

A craft that I made a few years ago with vintage angels.....

You may remember the Tree I made out of Dress Factory thread spools which is a smaller  version  than my Dad made a very long time ago.....

And the angel I also made......

I also gifted one to my niece Renae as the head with halo and the gold angel wings were bought at her parent's estate sale.....

On the floor in front of the TV Entertainment Center.......

More of my Christmas Bearington Bears......

The top of the TV Entertainment Center......

Before I go any further, I took another piece of the vintage fencing , once used around a tree platform, that I found in my neighbor Elly's attic when I cleaned out her home for her sons.....

.

And used it in this display which it fit in perfectly.......

This is a small vintage tree that I also found up Elly's attic that I decorated this year and placed here in the center.......

This Caroler set is from Sam's Club......

I placed battery operated evergreen trees in gold pots.....

There is a set of battery operated lights woven through out the display.....

On this side.......

A small round table......

Another Sam's  Club Set......

I finished embroidering this stamped cross stitch topper last year.....

"Twas the Night Before Christmas"

Thought  it was fitting to use the topper with this set of Santa reading a story!

Looking toward the front door......

And by the front door is a marble topped stand......

Joe bought this large hurricane candle votive on clearance......

Hanging from it is an angel and beads and the bottom is filled with red, green and gold ornaments.....

2 Santa bottles from the Christmas Tree Shop that I embellished.......

On the bottom......

An apothecary jar on a tray of ornaments......

And that completes my tour of our Living Room and my Christmas Room by Room Home Tour!!!!

I hope you enjoyed it!!

In my next post, I will be sharing my other house all decked out for Christmas....

Nelson Crest!!!!

New light up trees outside and a new lighted Tree in the parlor that I decorated!!!!

  1. I always enjoy visiting your 2 blogs and seeing all your Christmas treasures here. Those vintage choir boys are wonderful finds. You must have a large place to store your decorations; mine go in my attic. You have so many pretty scenes, thanks for sharing them.

  2. My goodness so much snow, Mother Nature at her finest shoing us the beauty of Winter. It was a delight to tour your stunning home all decked out for the season. The figures going up the stairs were a joy to see as were all your vignettes each so thoughtfully placed. I am in awe of your dedication it must take days to prepare.

  3. We did not get any snow this week! My husband and I would shovel snow when we were dating in high school. My mom called one day when school was closed and sent us to a co-workers house. While we were shoveling as a good deed, several of her neighbors hired us and we made some date money! When we bought our house, I excuse our youth. We live on a corner and have a long sidewalk on the northside, a long sidewalk in front of our house and another long sidewalk going southwest up the street. Plus the driveway and walk to the house. In my twenties I had several cases of pneumonia, bronchitis and then bronchial asthma. I can't take those deep breaths while shoveling anymore. It just burns my throat and I can count on a z-pack and inhaler in a few days. We were fortunate to have five kids who were shovelers in the day and now we have a snowblower which my husband loves. He does all of ours and then several neighbors who are older, or single moms or have conditions where they cannot shovel. He will skip houses deliberately that have teenagers because he is that guy.

I have a cane just like yours and when I had shingles and could barely walk, my grandkids called it my "circus stick" just like Curious George's owner.

Can't wait for the dollhouse post!
