Christmas at Nelson Crest, 2020

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

I want to mention that since Blogger changed to a new format for posting, if you can click on each picture if you care to enlarge it......

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

Today, I will be sharing how Nelson Crest, my Victorian Doll House, is decorated for Christmas this year....

But first, I want to Thank to Mel, over at Decor Craft Design and Colleen, over at Butterfly in the Attic, both of whom are the Creative Hosts of You're the Star Blog Hop, for choosing my post, Christmas Crafting, as one of their features from November's party for Creative Week!!!

 Thanks, Mel and Colleen!!!

Thanks, Melissa, over at Little Frugal Homestead, for featuring my post, A Bit of Thomas Kinkade Christmas in the Den, from last week's Farm Fresh Tuesdays Blog Hop!!

Thanks again, Melissa, and thanks for your very kind words!!!!

Please stop by and link up to these charming partes!!

Last week, we got 3 inches of snow sort of unexpectedly because they predicted only a dusting....

I took just a few pictures of my "Garden Art' in the back yard with a bit if snow.....

Appropriately, the flag says SNOW!!

Toadstools....

Love her hat....

Love how the snow look like a path on the bottom of the flag.....

I am sure that I will be sharing some more snow pictures as we have a foot of snow predicted for tomorrow!!!!

I am so excited!!!

Last week, I gave my son's apartment a good deep cleaning....

Don't get me wrong, he does clean but it needed a Spring cleaning type of cleaning after he has lived here for over 10 years.....

He has a nice little apartment....

To the left of his Kitchen is the stairs as he lives in a second floor apartment in the Apartment Complex right by us.....

He moved in to an apartment that had been gutted and had all new cabinets, counter tops, carpeting, appliances, tile etc.....

All appliances come with the apartment except for a washer and dryer....

There is a laundry room for each row of apartments....

The Living Room....

Blinds for the windows come with the apartment.....

The on the right side leads to a walk in storage closet....

Yes, that is his Christmas Tree......

His Dining area with our sweet Savanna's ashes on the shelf.....

Down the hall is the bathroom and the bedroom.....

His bathroom.....

He has a nice sized bedroom.......

 Another large window......

It was weird cleaning the same bedroom furniture that he had as a kid.....

When both our sons moved out, I had them take their bedroom furniture, which I bought for them as kids, with them as I had other plans for their bedrooms.........

There is a large walk in closet to the right.......

Heat and water are included in his rent.....

Jim and Danielle live in the same apartment complex in a townhouse which is larger than mine and they have their washer and dryer included.....

Best buy for the money if you ask me......

Today, I will be sharing Nelson Crest decorated for Christmas......

I decorated the outside of the house a bit differently then other years......

On the left side of the house......

I hung wreaths on the windows like I did on our house......

I can't believe it was 12 years ago that my childhood dream came true!!

All Victorian mansions had a name so I named her Nelson Crest after the wonderful man who built my Doll House for me.....

Roy Nelson.....

Click HERE to read the story about him.......

The second floor balcony.....

This year, I added the 2 trees on each side.....

I bought them in Dollar Tree and I love how they change colors.....

I am going to let the pictures do most of the talking......

A sled on the front porch just like my childhood sled is on our front porch.....

On the right side.....

Now let's take a look inside......

I always say this is my dream house as I excluded a Kitchen when planning the rooms......

I do hate to cook........

I also left out the staircase so I could have more room in the rooms as I had already bought all the furniture before it was built!!!

The Parlor......

Mr. Nelson is sitting reading the newspaper after a long day at work.....

I have the exact same picture that is above the sofa, hanging in our bedroom.....

A Nativity set on top of the book case......

Mr. Nelson is having a cup of Tea and a piece of cake.....

The sitting area by the window........

I bought this Tree on clearance last year and I added a few decorations to it.....

All lit is up....

The Dining Room......

Who wouldn't like a fireplace in the Dining Room like my friend Anne Marie has in her home!!

This Tree in the Dining Room already came decorated and does not light up.......

The table is set for a Christmas party......

Another nativity set on top of the Dining Room hutch, just like in my Dining Room.....

A tea cart........

Since I am a Mother to 2 wonderful sons, I wanted to do a little girl's bedroom......

Rose's Bedroom.....

I chose the name Rose as it is Joe's Maternal Grandmother's name and most likely the name I would have chosen if I had a daughter.....

My childhood bedroom was painted purple which is why I chose this color for Rose's bedroom.....

I used doilies for the bedspread and rug.....

Rose has a lot of her dolls and toys in her bedroom.....

Rose has a Tree in her bedroom too, like I did and my sons did when we were children.....

Next year, I will make one in purple to match her bedroom.....

The Master Bedroom......

The Master Bedroom is done in pink and blue like mine......

Mrs. Nelson was having some Tea while wrapping gifts......

The bedspread is an embroidered doily....

12 years ago, I made the Tree for the Parlor which is now here in the Master Bedroom.....

Mrs. Nelson relaxing on the settee.......

The Bathroom.....

A small Tree in the Bathroom like the ones I have in my 2 bathrooms......

Even rolls of toilet paper by the toilet......

The Music Room.....

I always wanted to be able to play a musical instrument but never did.......

I guess that is why I had both of our sons take piano lessons when they were younger.....

And there is a Tree back by the hutch......

And that is Nelson Crest all decked out for Christmas this year......

I only decorate the inside for Christmas but I do decorate the outside for other Holidays and Seasons.....

I hope to be able to soon give Nelson Crest a bit of a make over as her paint is fading and I want to do a bit of remodeling inside.....

I acheived making my childhood dream of owning a Victorian Doll House at the age of 50 years old.....

You are never too old to achieve your dreams no matter what they may be......

In my next post, I will be doing my final Christmas Home Tour post for this year , sharing every room in our house decorated for Christmas and revealing the amount of decorated Trees for this year!!!

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. Your dollhouse is gorgeous my friend and your touches makes it more so !
Your son's apartment is just perfect for a single man. I'm sure you left it perfect for another three months. I used to do the same with my daughter when I visited her at the capital, where she lived, hahaha
    Happy Xmas season my friend.

  2. My four year old granddaughter and I just perused every one of the doll house pictures. She did not miss a thing! She thinks it is wonderful. She wants you to know "she loves it and she loves it inside too and she loves the 4th of July and she loves the Halloween. And she loves the mommy room. And what else she likes is the kid's room and she loves the daddy. She just loves the dining room and she just loves that."

You have given us lots of decorating ideas for next year. Hopefully her baby brother will be old enough that we can decorate the exterior of my dollhouse too!

  5. Nelson Crest looks lovely decorated for Christmas, Debbie!! I'm sorry I took the two weeks off since Christmas but I did feature your post at this week's Share Your Style #287. <3 Each room is sooo pretty! I'm not much of a cook, either, but Charles bought me the Lodge cast iron Dutch oven I saw at Buc-Ees and gave it to me for my birthday this week (1/7/21). I cooked spinach tortellini in it tonight for dinner (1/9). :) I took a really good look at all the pieces you have and the furniture is really nice.

I wish I still had the Swiss chalet my father bought for me when I was fifteen. I had it until they moved to Connecticut and I think they found someone to give it to, but I kept the furniture. This year I put out the fireplace found back then (1977) in Folsom, CA, which was handmade by someone, and then I hung a large wreath up above it from a cup hook in our buffet in the dining room. Looks lovely! BTW, where did you find the statue that holds up a white bowl? It's in one of your outdoor photos. I'd love one as she looks a lot like my big maiden outdoors.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's,
    Barb :)
