Winter Wonderland in the Powder Room and a Thanksgiving Tablescape, 2019

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!
I am so happy that you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog....

But first, I want to Thank Karen, over at Oh My Heartsie Girl, for featuring my post, Wreath Re- Do's and Dabbling, from last week's Wonderful Wednesday Link Party!

 Thanks so much, Karren!!

And I also want to Thank Karren again for featuring my post, Christmas in the Craft Room, as one of her features from last week's Friday Features Link Party!!
Thanks again, Karren!!!

Please stop by ad link up to these great parties!!!

Today, I will be sharing my Winter Wonderland in the downstairs Powder Room......

I thought I would share the process of completing the transformation of this room, decorating it for Winter with a few Christmas touches....

I did pass on a few Christmas things from this room but not much has changed....

This is what the Powder Room normally looks like.....
 Pink accents.....
I call it my "Elegant Lady" Powder Room.....
It took me a day and a half to clean and decorate this room......

I totally strip the entire room down.....
I pack up all the regular things up and unpack the Christmas and Winter things....

I hang a wreath on the door of every room in the house that has a door.....

Each wreath matches the color and decor theme of that room......

This is the Powder Room door......
I made this blue, white and silver wreath......
I hung a Christmas ornament in the middle of the wreath...
And I hung a stocking from the bottom of the wreath....
Since the theme of the Powder Room for Winter is Snow Buddies, I pinned 2 Snow Buddy pins and glued a blue poinsettia to the stocking that I had embellished.....
Above the door way is a greenery swag.....
I bought the corner angel at a yard sale many years ago.....
I like to use shelves since I live in a townhouse and have limited space......
Another angel hangs above this shelf where Snow Buddies are displayed along with a blue bottle brush tree bought at Target a few years ago......
Below the shelf, hangs a Winter slate......
And a Christmas ornament hangs below that.......
I like the reflection of the slate in the mirror......
I like my medicine cabinet because I get to decorate the top of it.....
Snow Buddies, silver trees and a putz house which is actually an ornament and blue and silver ornaments.....
The sink area......
Next to the medicne cabinet......
I took the pictures out of these silver frames......
Replaced them with Christmas cards.....
And hung them on the wall between the medicine cabinet and another shelf unit.....
Above the tiolet......
A silver mercury glass finial and a battery operated lighted tree.....
All the Snow Buddies in this room were bought because they have a special meaning to me....

The Snow Buddies on the toboggan remind me of going tobogganing with my best friend and her brothers and sleigh riding on the hill in front of my house when I was growing up.....
A Snow Buddy candy cane and ice skate ornaments hang off the side of the shelf.....
On the bottom shelf, we have Penguin Hockey.....
I also added a bunch of penguins as an ode to Joe being an avid Wilkes Barre - Scranton and Pittsburgh Penguin's Hockey fan!!!
A Christmas plate hangs above the towel bar.....
I recently bought new lighter gray towels and I have had the blue snowmen towels for several years....

On the toilet tank is another silver mercury glass tree......
This is how it looked before I put the Tree up.....
I wire the Tree to the tray on the wall and to the estagere so it does not fall over as the Snow Buddy ornaments are quite heavy for a small tree.......
There are 2 sets of blue and white battery operated lights on the Tree and I added puffs of Buffalo snow to make it fuller......
There is also silver and blue beaded garland on the Tree.....

I added a few silver balls......
Then I tucked in some glittered snow tipped picks......
And added some blue berry picks......
And topped it off with a bow......
I also added blue and white icicle ornaments....
You can see the blue lights on the Tree......
On the shelf below the Tree is a little village........
A blue church and Snow Buddy Santa's....
Another shelf unit......
But first, there is another shelf  next to the estagere......
A silver deer......
Blue Santa ornaments were hung on the sides.....
A bow, greenery and ornaments were added to the sconces on each side of the shelf.....
Silver mercury glass battery operated lighted trees on the smaller shelves.....
A Home and Garden picture depicting a Winter snowman scene......
On top of the shelf are 2 silver mercury glass owls.....
I moved them here after using them in the Dining Room for Halloween!!
More Snow Buddies....
As I mentioned before, most of the Snow Buddies have special meaning to me.....
The one carrying the wash buckets remind me of my Mother who was always cleaning, "Shop til you Drop" for my love of shopping, " Tea Party" for my love of the Victorian era and tea parties and the one with the carpenter's tool belt is for my Dad who built the 2 houses that I lived in as a child....

Bottom shelf....
"Oops" because I was never known for my agility and tend to fall a lot, "Charge It" again for my love of shopping even though we have now paid off all charges, and the last one is "Remodeling" because that is what I seem to always be doing!!
Below the shelf hangs a Dollar Tree frame that I painted white and placed a Christmas card inside of.....
The sconce on the other side of the shelf unit.....
The washer and dryer are housed behind bifold closet doors in this room.....

Above that closet......
Another greenery swag with a hand painted snow man ornament hanging in the middle.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I changed the Powder Room from this.....
To this......
I will remove the Christmas items after the Holiday and will add a few Valentine's decorations and keep it decorated like this until the end of February......

Joe got to help decorate the Christmas Tree at Wegman's and put the bow on top since no one else could reach it even on a step stool!!
Employees at Wegman's were given Hershey bars last week in these special wrappers.....
No wonder Wegman's is ranked Number 1 on the List of Best Places to Work in Retail by Fortune magazine!!!

I enjoyed not having to worry about going to work for Thanksgiving.....

For close to 40 years, since I worked night shift, I had to work either the Eve or the Day of every holiday since Hospitals do not close......

I set a simple Thanksgiving Tablescape.....
I bought this set of chargers on Clearance in Michael's for just a little over $3.00 a few weeks ago....
I used simple white plates with gold rims because these are the largest ones that I have!!!
I know how my boys eat!!

My gold flatware.....
My vintage Gold Leaf goblets.......
Crystal angel salt and pepper shakers......
We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with our kids!!

Joe's eyes are always bigger than our stomachs and bought a 24 lb. whole turkey for 5 of us!!!!!
We had to put it in our son Joey's freezer and than defrosted in his refrigerator.....

When he brought it to our house, he put it on the passenger seat of the car and it kept setting off the seat belt alarm because it was registering the turkey as a passenger!!

Here it is in the oven.....
We just about fit it in.......

Joe always basted the turkey because more often than not, I would be coming home after working all night, throw the turkey in the oven and then go to bed for 2-3 hours before getting up to get the rest of the dinner ready.....

He continued to do that especially since we could hardly pull the rack out to baste it!!!
I made my Dad's recipe for Sausage Filling like I always do......
And I ended up with 3 pies for dessert!!
I bought a chocolate cream pie......
And a banana cream pie from our great niece Cortney who was selling them as a fund raiser.....
And Joe bought a small Wegman's apple pie that we had with Cool Whip....
At least he listened to me when I said a SMALL pie!!

I think next year, a 18 -20lb. turkey will do and Joe agrees......

I made turkey soup on Black Friday because I would not be caught dead going out shopping on that day since it has become way too cut throat and nasty for me and I give money and do not buy hardly any gifts!!
The soup will definitely come in handy as we are predicted to first have rain, freezing rain, sleet and then 5-9 inches of snow today and into Monday night!!

I am so glad that I am retired and no longer have to drive in it!!

I was never afraid of driving in snow because I know how to but I was more scared of the other people who would not slow down and did not know how to drive in snow!!!

Did I mention that Joe is working on Monday?????  LOL!!!!

Wegman's is only 5 minutes from our house though.....

You have already gotten some glimpses of the Dining Room decorated for Christmas......
Up next on my Christmas Home Tour will be the Dining Room......
I have made some changes in my decorations in this room.....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  2. It looks like a lovely Thanksgiving and a beautiful setting. I love the winter picture in your bathroom and all the blues are so pretty. The snow babies are adorable there.

  3. My favorite thing about retirement is looking out my window and deciding to stay home! I would get ready for work and have to go scrap my car. By the time I got the snow and ice off the windshield, I would be soaking wet and have to go in and change. I had a remote starter, but you have to remember to leave the defroster on and turned to heat and all the right settings. I never could remember.

My favorite part of your room is the blue village under the tree. The colors are just beautiful and I love the buildings. I am so amazed by all your decorating.
