Where DO I Put It All?, Part 2, The Attic, February Rudolph Day

Happy February Rudolph Day!!!!!
It's the 25th of the month which is deemed Rudolph Day by many........

I hope to post something about Christmas on the 25th of every month here on my Christmas blog.......

After Christmas, I decided to do a Series titled "Where DO I Put It All?" since I am frequently asked that question in regards to my Holiday decorations......

In Part 1, I shared that I store some of the Christmas decorations from the Living Room and Kitchen under the stairs........
Click HERE if you missed that post........

In today's post, I will be sharing another place I use to store Holiday decorations......

The Attic.......

Let me warn you that there is nothing glamorous about this post!!!

Shortly after we moved in to our townhouse, we had the attic floored and instead of using the tiny trap door in one of the closets in the Master Bedroom, we had pull down stairs installed in a different area of the Master Bedroom to provide an easier access up to the Attic......
I "dabbled" a bit and cut out images from a wall paper border to dress up the pull down up a bit......

Our eldest son asked if I was going for a Sistene Chapel look!!!  LOL!!!
This is actually the 3rd set of pull down stairs that we have had installed in 30+ years!!

The first 2 were wooden stairs which both broke because of the heavy use!!!
So we opted for the more expensive metal set of stairs and so far, they have held up without any problems......
You can see that they are in an area of our bedroom which provides easy access up and down......
Some of my neighbors installed them in the upstairs hall way where for the most part, attic pull down stairs are installed but that really limits the amount of space around the stairs so it was my idea to have them installed in the bedroom.......

After all, I am a carpenter's daughter.......

I do want to add that I am able to walk around up in the attic but in a slightly hunched position.

I have a small stool up there that I can move around and sit down on and work from......

It is easier for me to go up there as I am used to it because every time Joe goes up the attic, he impales himself on the nails from the roofing!!!

So I just hand everything down to him because it is safer that way!! LOL!!

The roof truss system in the attic has very nicely created "sections" which makes it easy to organize when storing things......
I store decorations from one room and sometimes 2 rooms depending on the amount of storage containers, in each section.....

This makes it each when decorating as I bring down only the decorations for the room I am decorating at the time and then put those containers, now filled with the everyday things from that room , back up into the attic in the "section" for that room......

I will pick up where I left off with the rest of the Kitchen Christmas decorations......

This is the Tree that I decorated for Christmas in the Kitchen.......
This is the container that I store the decorations for this Tree in.......
These are the rest of the decorations from the Kitchen that were not stored under the stairs......
Up in the attic is a large tub that stays up there and  I just empty it out up there rather then lugging this large tub up and down from the attic........
I store the florals and swags from the Kitchen in this large tub........
In this section at the far end of the attic, is where the remainder of the Kitchen decorations are stored........
Each storage container is labeled with what is inside of it and where those decorations usually go.....
You can see how the truss system forms sections........
In the section next to where the Kitchen decorations are stored is where I store all the Christmas decorations from the Dining Room.......
Again, each tub is marked with exactly what is inside of it........
The box is the original box from one of the Sam's Club sets that displayed on the buffet in the Dining Room.......
The other Sam's Club set is in this large box......
The swifter Wet Jet box holds a hand made Old World Santa.......
This is all of the Dining Room Christmas decorations.......
The next section is where I store the Living Room decorations.........

I have another large tub that stays up the Attic for the Living Room florals and swags.........
This large tub is slid far back in the section..........

Once again, I labeled all the tubs with what is stored inside of them......
And where those decorations go in the Living Room.....
The lights from the Christmas Tree for the Living Room are stored in the box above........

The next section is used to store the decorations from the Den and the Powder Room........
 The Powder Room decorations.........
In my next post in this Series, I will be sharing where the upstairs Christmas decorations are stored  and where decorations for other Holidays are stored here in the Attic!!!!

So I hope you will come by and visit again!!

  3. Oh my gosh you made great use of your space. I have some potential storage room under the stairs in the basement. All I have to do is get the hubs to clear it out. We have an attic but I've never been up there and don't intend to. I imagine there are lots of spiders and creepy crawlers up there.

  4. I envy you attic space. We have basement space - and we *do* have to utilize it, but living on the ocean, I'm always a little afraid of a flood and all my holiday decor being destroyed.
I have to chuckle - I see we have the same red-and-green fabric storage boxes for our Christmas ornaments - and that you, too, have to tape the darned things closed because the velcro they use isn't worth spit. LOL
Thanks so much for visiting my blog ... and for sharing all your storage organizational skills. I'm not too bad at it - but you have me beat!
    Happy Pink Saturday!

  5. I've been going through this same process! We used to use cardboard boxes for almost everything, but this year we decided those old flimsy boxes weren't doing the trick, so we upgraded to the Sterilite containers. They are all clear, but you still can't tell one tree or garland from another in them,..so like yours, each one is marked with what's inside, which is always so much help when Christmas comes round again! Thank you for sharing your Christmas organization!

    Blessings on your day, Net

  6. WOW, you certainly have it all organized very nicely! I've been so curious (but didn't ask) about where you stored everything, knowing that you live in a condo. I had a great attic when we lived in Oregon. The Man build permanent stairs in the garage to access our attic. Shorty me could walk all over the place without bumping my head. There aren't too many attics in Arizona houses.....too many creepy crawlies is #1 for me, but houses need a ton of insulation for our hot weather. A few builders have built basement houses, but not too many. We do have high ceilings throughout the house and also in the garage. The Man has installed 4 ceiling hung racks in the garage and they can be raised and lowered...makes it so easy to load and unload. I'm always interested in seeing how other people store their beloved treasures, so thank you for sharing.
    Warm hugs, Carol

  11. WOW!! So much to store but it looks like you have it all organized well. The only storage room we have is a closet sized one and it is bursting with junk we've amassed over the years! I dare not open it!

    Have a great weekend, Debbie.
