STOP!!
Don't take your tree down yet!!
Unless you have a real one and then you have no choice!
But now is the time to cruise the After Christmas Clearance sales to look for ornaments for different holidays and seasons!!
And why should you take down the those trees when you can turn them into Valentine's Day trees?????
Last year I left 5 of my trees up and converted them into Valentine's Day trees.
A 5 foot potted one in my Living Room..
A Shabby Pink one in my Craft Room.......
My Dining Room Tree.....
And the Powder Room stayed decorated with Snow Buddies and I added red hearts to that tree...
The Den tree stayed up too and was decorated with burgundy and blue solid and toile hearts.....
I even left the garland up on the stairs, added a red velvet rose garland to it and red lights.......
You can leave up your garland outside too. Just add raffia bows, use only white lights, add snowflake ornaments to the garland and you are decorated for Winter!!
Leave a sled and a snowman or too on the front porch and your house is a Winter Wonderland!!
Why not brighten the dark of winter by keeping the lights twinkling both outside our homes and inside on a tree or two???
I am taking down the wreaths on my windows and putting up lighted snowflakes.... Winter Decorations!!

Everyone always seems in a rush to take Christmas away! My tree is always the last to be put away because I like it so much. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful tree and rooms with us. Happy New Year to you and your family. ♥♫
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Debbie! I'll take down the big tree this weekend and decorate my feather tree for Valentines Day. I also bring out some snowmen now too just for fun:@)
ReplyDeleteDebbie, my tree is up through today, but I'll probably take it down tomorrow. All your trees look lovely, and I understand how they can transition to other holidays, but any time I see a decorated evergreen, I still think Christmas. I like the look of an Easter tree and a Halloween tree, those are generally twiggier, so no real relation to the Christmas tree. Besides, removing the holiday decor really opens up my small condo, so I have to admit I'm looking forward to regaining that 4 feet space in my livingroom, and pulling out the usual decorative elements which were stashed away for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI do admire your ability to 'keep Christmas in your heart all year long', and even in your household. Enjoy!
Debbie, your trees always look so perfect. My tree is down. I wasn't too happy with it this year. I need to find a tall, slender tree.
ReplyDeleteMy cousin came by today. She brought me some vintage potholders, a gorgeous floral one, and a piece with tatted edging. The tatting is in excellent condition. I will carefully remove it and add it to something I create so I can display it in my home. She finds the most fabulous things and lucky me, she has such a generous heart, she shares. I also have a new supply of books for reading these cold months. You found some great after Christmas bargains. My daughter hit Target also. She bought some very pretty ornaments and a couple of nutcrackers at 75% off. Have a wonderful New Year's Eve!!
Debbie.. your trees looks so beautiful at Valentine's... here in PUerto Rico we have the longest Christms in the world... they end in February 2nd. Not all the people stays with the decorations thru that long but some keep the trees up. The real ones are burned in the night of the February 2 "Dia de la Candelaria" when you burned up the tree and some old things you don't want more in your life (it's a spiritual ritual), you burned love letters from an old relationship etc.,. Also we celebrate "Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián"...that's the last weekend of January the whole weekend it's like a festival for the whole family where you found a great selection of crafters too. Thanks for sharing and wish you and your loved ones a wonderful 2011
ReplyDeleteWhat great trees for something other than Christmas.. love them all Everyseason should be festive. Hope you had a great Christmas
ReplyDeleteI agree, why do all that work and make it look so pretty just to tear it all done the day after Christmas. Mine all stay up till about the end of January at least. And this year I got some replacement trees that will be good use come Valentines time.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I am not alone in my love of Christmas.
See my tour of this years a couple posts down on my blog.

ReplyDeleteOMGosh... soooo many pretty trees. I did well to put up one tree, lol.
ReplyDeleteOh, your Valentine trees are so pretty! Love the idea. The two trees in my family room are real trees and I've got to take them down very soon. They are SOOOO dry! Most of my snow people will stay out for awhile. I am trying to get all of the Santas put away. Thanks for sharing your lovely trees and this great idea! laurie
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, Thank you for linking to Masterpiece Monday! I hope you can join in every week.

Love the pink one (of course). I too leave out "winter decor". Sleds, ice skates, lights. It's nice in the dreary months of Jan and Feb to keep some beauty and lights going. Helps with seasonal blues too! LOL
ReplyDeletegreat advice, i like to spread the season for as long as we can, so many folks invest a large amount in decorating for only a few weeks, for me it is leaving all the stars decorations up until it is time to make way for red hearts
ReplyDeleteI was just thinkin if I could pull off a Valentine's tree! You "AMAZE ME"! Thank you for linking up to the "Amaze Me Monday" blog party!!
