A Traditional Christmas in the Living Room, Table Vignettes & a "Mantel", Christmas Home Tour, 2023

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

I post 3 TIMES A WEEK on MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAYS!!!!

 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, I will be finishing up my Tour of the Living Room decorated in a Traditional Style in a color scheme of red, green and gold.....

In my last post, I shared how I decorated my faux window and the 7 ft. slim Tree in my Living Room along with the village underneath it...

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

This is going to be a long post so pull up a comfy chair and grab a cuppa something tasty!!!

I started my baking on Friday and finished yesterday on Sunday......

2 batches of toll house  ( semi sweet chips) cookies

3 batches of chewy gingerbread cookies because one batch does not make a lot....

2 batches of Reese's peanut butter cup cookies...

I wanted to make M&M cookies but when I opened not one, but two, bags of what turned out to be M&M peanut butter candies that looked to be the size of jaw breakers, I knew I could not use these in cookies!!

I had a bag and a half of milk chocolate chips and a half bag of peanut butter chips so I threw them in the batter and ended up with these...

Have I mentioned that my family likes a little bit of cookie with their candy and does not really like other types of cookies????

We really are not keen on desserts and I usually only bake cookies once a year at Christmas otherwise, I do not have them in the house...

I did make 2 different kinds of Fool Proof Fudge....

This one is white chocolate peanut butter swirl with milk chocolate chips....

And this one is milk chocolate and peanut butter swirl....

Have I mentioned that my family loves chocolate and peanut butter?????

I am addicted to enjoying watching Christmas Home Tours on You Tube.....

These are not Cookie Cutter homes where each one looks the same like you see on some of the professional Blogs anymore...

I want to showcase some You Tubers who have really knocked it out of the park this Christmas...

First is Life with Maryann and Joe....

Joe is actually the creator and decorator and creates a lot of his own decor...

Click HERE to see their amazing home with 10 Trees!!!!

Next is Arlynn's Country Craft Corner....

Even though Arlynn suffered the tragic loss of her 39 year old daughter right before Thanksgiving, she went ahead and filmed her stunning home tour in her daughter's memory.....

Click HERE to see Arlynn's beautifully decorated home....

Next is Becca at Adventures in Decorating....

I love her use of traditional red and green this year....

Click HERE to see Becca's lovely home!!

I found a lot of my inspiration this year on You Tube watching Decorate with Me videos and Shop with Me videos...

Please give them a "like" and consider subscribing to their Channels like I did!!

I will share more of my favorites in upcoming posts.....

Okay, today we are going to finish the Tour of the Living Room decorated for Christmas in traditional red, green and gold....

I will be featuring my table top vignettes in this post.....

Again, I will be sharing where I put all the new things that I did buy to answer the frequent question of "Where are you going to put it all?"

I bought these place mats at Big Lot's ......

I used them as doilies through out the Living Room and then later bought the matching runner that I did not feature in a Haul...

Bought these in Dollar Tree and used them on a garland....

And this sweet vintage wood block in Gabes....

We will start here across from the corner by the stairs....

This is a vintage table/cart ( there are wheels on the bottom of it) that I bought in an Antique Co Op to put my Nostalgic Stereo system on....

On top of the stereo ( actually on the turntable lid)

See the poinsettia place mat???

 2 Santa's under glass domes....

A vintage card and a snow globe bought at a flea market.....

In front of the stereo.....

Another vintage card and a vintage Christmas tea cup and saucer....

My childhood knee huggers in a vintage Lefton Santa cup.....

I love the cubby holes on this table....

The top ones.....

The wood block I bought at Gabes and a vintage boot that I bought a long time ago at a yard sale....

A Fitz and Floyd plate bought in Boscov's and a vintage deer planter....

I made all the vintage bottle brush trees in thread spools covered with music sheet paper....

A reproduction Lady Head vase that was gifted to me by a friend....

The tree was bought in Boscov's.....

The bottom cubbies.....

The only Byer's Choice figurine that I own.....

Carolers also bought in Boscov's.....

The vintage pink bottle brush trees were my parents...

A Fitz and Floyd snowman that is a music box....

On the soffit separating the Living Room and Dining Room.....

Embroidery hoops that I made a few years ago...

In the corner by the Dining Room....

Is a large round table.....

I display my large Nativity Set that Joe won at our church by filling out only ONE ticket for a Buck on a raffle!!!

I made this tree out of thread spools last year, recreating a smaller version of one that my Dad made.....

The 3 tier vintage table on the left side of the TV Entertainment Center.....

On the left side of the table....

This Santa was bought a few years ago in Gabes....

I placed this tin in front of it because it has a picture of a Santa holding a tree and a bag of toys just like the large Santa behind it....

 Top shelf of the table....

A plate bought at Salvation army and some of my collection of vintage putz houses....

 Again, see the place mats????

The middle shelf....

Another Salavation Army plate.....

Bottom shelf....

An antique calendar plate from 1909, gifted to me by my friend Anne Marie and the lighted Lenox house was also a gift from a friend....

The figures are actually a set of Thomas Kinkade ornaments...

I recently bought these clip on poinsettias in Big Lot's....

And I scored these wonderfully flocked trees in Dollar Tree!!!

They had just put a whole box of them and I grabbed 4 of them!

I treat the top of the TV Entertainment Center which  as a mantel.....

I have a sweet Santa You Tube Screen Saver disguising the "big black box TV"

This year, I really wanted to create a mantel look.....

So I looked through my stash and found a cheap garland from Micheal's that was $1.99.....

I hung it using command strips placed on top of the TV entertainment center, attaching wire to the garland and then hooking the wire around the hook on the command strip....

Something I learned from my favorite You Tubers!!!

I then used the berry picks from Dollar Tree, some chandy embellishments that I already had and a set of battery operated Snow Flake lights that was gifted to me!!

I clipped the 3 poinsettia ornaments from Big Lots on each end and in the middle.....

They go well with the new poinsettia runner!!!

On top is where I display my ceramic Caroler set that also was bought in Sam's Club 20 years ago.....

I love this set because it is so unique and something that you do not see anymore....

I simply slid a graphic I ran off from the computer down to cover a battery operated candle that I have in candle holders I made from a Dollar Tree vase and candlestick.....

There are 2 battery operated trees on each side....

And a vintage Tree, that I found in my late neighbor Elly's attic when we cleaned out her house for her sons, is decorated with white snowflakes....

A gold church is elevated on a book box and you can see where I used 2 of those flocked trees from Dollar Tree....

A layer of buffalo Snow was placed in front....

I am really happy with the way this looks this year....

On the floor in front of the TV.....

3 D crystal images that revolve of our sweet grand pups gifted to us by my son Jim and DIL Danielle...

And the cute Santa dressed snow man was a gift from my niece Renae and great nieces Cort, Cait and Carly!

On and around a small trunk....

2 Bearington Bears, that I used to display in the Den, are sitting in a red velvet sleigh that was a gift from my friend Anne Marie....

Sitting on the trunk are 3 more Bearington Bears....

On the right side is a tree I made....

In front of the trunk is another vintage card....

 And another screen saver....

The small round table on the right side of the Entertainment Center....

This is a set bought at Sam's Club , made by Grandeur Noel, 20 years ago....

Joe bought this green velvet like tree in Big Lot's for 90% off a few years ago....

It was under a Dollar!!!

I got out a container of fake snow that I had and painted it on the tips of the branches....

In 2019, while recuperating from my knee replacement surgery, I finally finished this table topper that I started 35 years prior!!!

Yes, 35 years!

I think it is fitting that I use it on this table with this Santa set...

On the side of the table by the front door....

Is a marble topped plant stand....

A large vase that Joe rescued from our dumpster is filled with red and gold florals.....

On top of the plant stand is a large hurricane type candle holder that Joe bought many years ago on Clearance in Wegman's....

Santa bottles bought at The Christmas Tree Shop that I embellished....

An apothecary jar that was a gift from a friend is on the bottom shelf....

Santa tins , also from The Christmas Tree Shop, on the gold tray...

And that completes my Tour of our Living Room decorated for Christmas this Year....

But we are not done yet!!

One more room to go!!!

  2. I think I might have gained 10 lbs looking at those delicious cookies! I don't bake anymore. Our local grocery store does a "cookie walk" where you get a box and they fill it with cookies you select from the tables. I get 2 each of our favorites (one for Mr Merry and one for me) and we ration them out one each evening until Christmas.
I just love the entertainment center garland - the way you styled it is so high-end! It looks gorgeous! And that tablecloth is just lovely - so nostalgic!
I am getting so excited about your granddaughters. I am glad your daughter in-law has done so well in her pregnancy. When my oldest was expecting our twins, I got an emergency call to leave town and go keep her on bedrest for the next six weeks. They were given steroid shots and were born at 34 weeks with no NICU stay which was a huge blessing. They were a handful! I can't believe that they turned 13 this past year.

  5. Such festive decorations. I didn't decorate a whole lot this year. I don't know where to put my stuff to put out a lot of Christmas decor. I need to clear out after Christmas. Your fudge looks delicious!
I watch Arlynn's crafty corner and have for years. So sad about her daughter. Arlynn is such a sweet lady to watch and she has a gorgeous home. Nice to see some Va. Vlogs and hers is at the top. Happy Christmas
