Nelson Crest at Christmas, 2019, and More Christmas Crafting!!

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!
I am so happy that you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog....

Today, I am finishing up my Christmas Home Tour and will be sharing my Victorian Doll House, Nelson Crest!!!
But first, I want to Than Karren, over at Oh My Heartsie Girl, for choosing my post, Christmas in the Kitchen, Vignettes, from last week's Friday Feature Linky Party!!!
Thanks so much, Karren!!

Please stop by and link up to this great party!!!

As a little girl, I always dreamed of having a Victorian Doll House.......
That dream came true 10 years ago when Joe bought me this Doll House Kit for my Birthday!

I had entertained the thought of building it myself but at the time I was working full time Night Shift and involved in chairing several Fund Rasiers at our church .....

I realized that I would be dead by the time I found the time to attempt to build my dream doll house.....

I beleive that God puts people in your life for a reason and Roy Nelson was one of those people.....

Click HERE to read the story of how this wonderful man, at the age of 88 years old and newly diagnosed with Lung Cancer, made this little girl's dream come true.....
All Victorian mansions were named and I chose to name mine after the man who built her, Nelson Crest.......

And the family that lives there are the Nelson's!!

I decorate the outside of Nelson Crest for every Season and Holiday.....

Easter.....
 The Patriotic Summer Holidays.....
 And Halloween!!!
Let's take a look at Nelson Crest all decked out in her Christmas finery!!!
Left side yard.....
Wreaths hang on all the windows just like my "real" house!!
Garland around the door on the second floor balcony....
Simple topiaries on each side of the door......
A Santa head hangs from the railing.....
A snow man, a sled filled with packages grace this side of the yard.....
The front porch....
A broom in this corner.....
And a shovel is ready on this side of the porch....
Toy soldiers and poinsettias line the front steps.....
A large toy soldier stands at attention in the yard....
Another snow man and skates that the Nelson's left outside after an outing to the pond down the street.....
The right side yard.....
Rose's sled is ready to go....
Nelson Crest will be 10 years old and is starting to show signs of age....
I hope to update her paint and do a few other things now that I am retired......

It is on my To Do List!!

For Christmas, I do decorate the inside of Nelson Crest!!
We will start our tour downstairs....
Let's look at the Dining Room first......
The first of several decorated Trees in Nelson Crest.....
The table is set for Dinner.....
A Nativity Set displayed on the hutch, just like mine in my Dining Room....
Mr. Nelson is in the Parlor, reading the Newspaper....
Packages and toys have been put out for Christmas.....
Another Nativity set on top of the bookcase.....
The second Christmas Tree......
I opted to not put the stairs in this doll house as it would have decreased the size of the Parlor greatly.....

And I elected not to put a Kitchen in as this is the house of my Dreams......with NO Kitchen to have to cook in because I HATE to cook!!

The second floor.....
Since I am a Mom of 2 sons, I decided the Nelson's would have a daughter named Rose.......
This is Rose's bedroom......
It is done in purple, just like my childhood bedroom was.....
Rose has a lot of her toys in her bedroom.....
And also a Christmas Tree in her room, like I did as a child and like my son's did.....
The Master Bedroom......
Victoria Nelson is taking a rest on the settee after wrapping some Christmas presents.....
She also enjoyed a cup of Tea while doing so......
This is a Christmas Tree that I made for the Master Bedroom......
Moving up to the 3rd floor....
The Bathroom......
A small Christmas Tree in the Bathroom, just like in my 2 Bathrooms.....
And the Music Room.....
2 small bottle brush trees......
I think the Nelson's are ready for Christmas, are you ready?????

And that not only completes my tour of Nelson Crest.........
But it completes my Christmas Home Tour!!!
That is sharing a room by room tour........

In my next post, I will share a small glimpse of each room and reveal just how many decorated Trees I have this year......

It is less than last year as I passed some on to family.....

I have been doing a bit of crafting....

I found a fabric panel in my stash that I bought many years ago when pressing designs on shirts, tree skirts, aprons, etc. was the fad and then embellishing them with fabric paint....

Who remembers that???

Also in my stash was a bunch of embroidery hoops....

So an idea was born!!!!
I added gimp to cover the hoop......
Gemstones to decorate the Trees.......
A few doves, wreaths, sprigs of greenery and ribbon roses.......
Even some beads......

And this is what I came up with!!!
I had no idea after I made these where I was going to put them but I knew that they were perfect for the Victorian Traditional Christmas theme in the Living Room.....

So I adjusted a few nails of pictures that I had hanging on the soffit......
And I truly love how they look....
Yes, I have been having fun!!

Our friends Mary and Patti were supposed to come for lunch last week but unfortunately, the day before our lunch, my friend Patti got word that her Mother-in-Law was hit and killed by a truck as she crossed the street......

How tragic and devastating for her family...

Our friend Mary did come to visit though......

I set a very simple table as we ordered a pizza and I served Christmas cookies that I baked.....
That is my Rose china that I bought at the local Acme Market before I got married!!!
Mary said she felt so special that I set a table with china and crystal and served pizza!!!
I like to treat our friends and family special......

Mary gifted me this lovely Christmas Cookie Jar.....
So sweet!!!

Mary always says that it is not Christmas unless she visits Joe and Debbie's house!!!

We are thrilled that she thinks so!!

Sorry, I forgot about taking pictures but this is a photo of me, Patti and Mary taken when they came for lunch in the Fall.....
And I want to mention one other thing......

As a Blogger, you really have no idea who is reading your Blog unless they comment and I know many Bloggers wonder if all the time that they put into keeping their Blogs up and running is worth it......

I, myself, have gone through many times where I had thought of discontinuing my Blogs.....

BUT then something like this happens and my faith is renewed!!!

I recently received this comment on my Christmas Blog......

"Hi Im 84 YEARS OLD and I cant thank u enough for your XMAS BLOG Sincerely JANE"

Do I need to say that it brought tears to my eyes and that it made my day!!

So to all those Bloggers out there who wonder why you do it, this is a wonderful example of why we do it!!

I hope you will come back on Christmas Eve for my next post when I do a mini tour of our home, revealing just how many Trees I have this year!!!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

    1. Linda,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family!!!Thanks so much for stopping by!! I truly appreciate it!! When Joe bought the original doll house kit in A.C. Moore, they also had Room Sets of furniture. That is where the majority came from and I added to those Sets by buying things from several Miniatures Ebay stores about 8-10 years ago...
      Hugs,
      Debbie

  3. What an awesome doll house! Through a series of events I now have possession of a doll house built my my father in law in the 80's. It had been played with by children, so it needs some TLC. I have been collecting items to decorate for Christmas, but during the past year it has been "discovered" by my preschool grandchildren. I have packed up the Victorian furniture and put the Christmas decorating on hold. Where in the world do you find all your accessories? The nativity sets are amazing.

  5. Debbie, your Nelson Crest Dollhouse is absolutely fantastic! I love every detail of each of the rooms; they are so beautiful! The details of the rooms remind me of Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The detail of her castle is wonderful also. To view it, please check it out on google as I am sure you will enjoy each of the rooms of the castle.

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year!
