Christmas Embroidery, March Rudolph Day 2019

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!
I'm so happy that you decided to stop by!!

Happy Rudolph Day!!!!!

Rudolph Day is considered by some as the 25th of each month and I have tried in the past to post something having to do with Christmas here on my Christmas Blog on Rudolph Day!!!

I am no longer working and will be having my Knee Replacement Surgery on April 29th......
If you missed the post I wrote about what happened and why I am no longer working over on my regular Blog, Debbie-Dabble Blog, click HERE to read it!!

Even when I was still working, I had returned to a project that I started over 35 years ago........

I used to do a lot of Stamped Cross Stitch Embroidery before I had my sons......

And then it seemed that there was no time to devote to it.......

I had started on this "Twas the Night Before Christmas" table topper and had only finished 1 scene and half of another one....
I am proud to say that I finally finished this table topper.......
And it will be gracing one of the tables in our Living Room this coming Christmas!!!
After all the Embroidery was done, I found this trim in my stash and finished off the table topper........
After I had sewn it on, I then free hand stitched red and green cross stitch around the top of the trim like a border.......

Here is the topper laying over the ottoman in the Living Room......
I call it the "Twas the Night Before Christmas" Topper because of the sayings on it......

" The children were nestled all snug in their beds"
I have to tell you that this was one of those pieces that years ago when it was bought, had NO instructions that came with it regarding colors!!!
So I used what I thought would be the appropriate colors!!
I guess this is what "Sugarplums" look like......
Or maybe they are gingerbread men!!!
And I decided to make the quilt look like an antique crazy quilt because of all the patterns in it......

" And then in a twinkling I heard on the Roof"
Santa is climbing down the chimney!!
I used both white and a light blue floss when doing the snow and ice parts......
And I also used the 2 colors for Santa's suit and his beard.......

" And he looked like a peddler just opening his sack"
Santa filling a stocking and putting toys under the Tree.......
Again, I had to make up my own colors for this scene......

" Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"
I always envisioned Santa's sled being gold!!!
So there you have it........
It only took me over 30 years to finish it!!

I am really looking forward to proudly displaying it this coming Christmas!!!!

I also finished these 2 little Samplers.......

Again, they were bought over 30 years ago.....
These were kits and did came with Instructions......
I am not sure what I am going to do with these.......
I was thinking of making them into little pillows rather than framing them......

I do have some nice red velvet fabric.....

It sounds like these may be featured next Rudolph Day in April.......

So I hope you will stop by to visit again as I do plan on catching up on some Christmas crafts that I wanted to make for some time now.......

But until then, please stop by my regular Blog, Debbie- Dabble Blog , to see what else I have been doing to keep myself busy!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  3. How precious! And your embroidery is so pretty! I especially love the topper as our Daddy always read this to my sister and me on Christmas Eve.
    Hope you're doing ok.

  5. OMW Debbie, I don't think I will ever have the patience to do all those teeny, tiny stitches. I'd probably stab my finger more often than not. How incredible they look. It's becoming a lost art isn't it. So sad. I still have a whole bunch of hand stitched hankies that my Gran made more than 60 years ago. Some have been framed and I'm saving a few for my daughter's trousseau. We need to pass on the love.

I'll be thinking of you wrt your knee surgery. I know everything will go really well, and you'll be climbing those attic stairs real soon again.

  6. The embroidered table topper came out so nice! I especially like the reindeer. And I love the way you finished off the edge with the red and green cross stitches. I hope I can begin finding more time for embroidery!

  8. This is so cute! It will look great on the table at Christmastime. My mom used to do a ton of cross stitch, and I have quite a bit (of her work) at my own house now. I love having it to display. I'm glad you finally had the time to finish it. It turned out great! Thanks for sharing at Sweet Inspiration!

  10. My grandma taught me to embroider when I was nine years old. As the years went by I moved into counted cross stitch instead. I've often thought of taking up embroidery again, but have too many cross stitch projects to make the switch. Your table topper is gorgeous. The colors are so vibrant. What a cheerful piece! I can just imagine the satisfaction you feel having completed it. Beautiful!
