Christmas Buys, Red Transferware and a New Sled

Welcome to my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by my Christmas Blog!!

Every room in our townhouse has a different Christmas Theme and Color Scheme!!

I prove that you do not have to live in a large home to have several Trees, over 20, in all shapes and sizes!!

The majority of my Christmas decorations are placed in the same room every year and I know that this is not what most Decorator's care for but to me, it like seeing old friends again when I decorate each year for Christmas as many of my decorations were gifts from family and friends...........

I do try to add a few new things and change up things a bit but for the most part, these decorations are part of my Christmas Traditions and bring back a lot of treasured memories.....

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

I may throw in an extra post depending on what I want to share or if I have a lot to share....

This is my first post of the 2021 Holiday Season on my Christmas Blog!!

I am so excited!!

I did recently post here on my Christmas blog for October's Rudolph Day...

Rudolph Day is considered by many to be the 25th of each month ....

I shared the 10 Trees that I already have decorated upstairs!!!

Click HERE if you would like to see that post if you missed it.....

Yes, I started to decorate the upstairs for Christmas as soon as I was finished decorating the downstairs for Fall and Halloween!!

This is why....

Last year, it took me 33 days to decorate the entire inside of the house and front porch and yard...

I think I may be a bit faster this year but here is the break down so far.....

Upstairs Hall - 2 Days..

Upstairs Bathroom - 1 Day...

Master Bedroom - 2 Days

Craft Room - 1 Day

Sitting Room - 4 Days

Front Porch and Yard - 2 Days

Den - 4 Days

Powder Room - 2 Days

18 days so far!!

Yes, so far I have all of that decorated for Christmas....

These are the tubs of decorations just for our Den!!

Wreaths in this box.....

That is why I need to start early!!

A few sneak peeks.....

The Den, which I did start before Halloween....

The Powder Room....

And on Monday, I worked from 10 am til 4pm and managed to decorate the Front Porch and Yard in one day....

I had taken down and packed away all the fall decorations the day after Halloween and Joe went to the side of our road and cut the greenery for me to fill my pots....

So on Monday, I just needed to decorate it for Christmas.....

And yes, the house is already lit up at night because we have the lights on Timers set from dusk til dawn and we did not want to have to shut them off and reset everything after Thanksgiving!!

Every year, I set my Goal to be done decorating by Thanksgiving but have always fallen short , even last year!!!

I still have the Dining Room, the Living Room and the Kitchen to do and that involves packing away Fall/Halloween decorations and cleaning and then decorating for Christmas....

Will I get it all done before Thanksgiving this year so I can relax and enjoy the Holiday Season????

I am sure going to try!!!

I will be doing a Room by Room Tour as I have in past years along with a post on the outside....

But today, for my first post of the 2021 Holiday Season here on my Christmas Blog, I am going to share a few Christmas Buys, a change over of dishes in my Dining Room Hutch and a sled that I finally got to finish off.....

I really have no intentions to buy much in the way of decorations as I have so many things already but a few things for crafting purposes did catch my eye!!!

Several weeks ago, we went to a Mall about 20 minutes away from us which is located in the area where Joe grew up......

They recently converted an old K Mart store which was the largest K Mart that I had ever been in, into a Planet Fitness and a Hobby Lobby...

Yes, this was the very FIRST time I was ever in a Hobby Lobby!!!

I was speechless!!

Hobby Lobby took over 3/4's of the former K Mart so it is a HUGE store!

Now I could have spent a fortune in there but I did contain myself and only bought these things....

Their Christmas items were already 50% off so this sweet little Tree was $9.99!

At the end of last Season, Joe bought this on Clearance in Bed, Bath and Beyond so I figured this little Tree would be the perfect companion piece....

And I was right!!

This is in the upstairs Sitting Room.....

And of course these are for my Kitchen which has a Candy and Gingerbread theme for Christmas and I see that it is popular again as it dropped out of sight for a few years....

I am using this now by my coffee mug tree.....

Yes, we will be going back up to Hobby Lobby again....

I am almost grateful that there is not one closer because that could be dangerous
 for me....

Last week, the 2 Dollar Tree stores right by us started to get some Christmas merchandise in and this is what I bought.....

Mostly things for crafting....

I loved this book box!

Snow men hats for Winter crafts....

And this for the Kitchen!!

I plan on doing a few Snowmen crafts and these head are perfect as I will not have to make heads myself!!

I use owl ornaments when I decorate the Den after Christmas for Winter.....

Crafting things for the Kitchen.....

These will be great to decorate some bottle brush trees with and a few cones trees that I hope to make....

And these caught my eye but I am not sure what I will do with them yet....

A Face Book friend of mine from Ohio is looking for them in her stores because she is going to use them for Gingerbread houses that she is making....

And I loved this sign......

Some how when I looked at it, I thought it would go perfectly with this Sled that I have have for 2 years.....

Joe bought it from the Amish Farmer that sets up stands of produce and other wares every Friday in the Summer at the Convenient Store right down the road from us....

I decided to paint it an Antique White as I had that color in my paint stash.....

After letting it dry overnight, I then sanded it down especially around the edges and applied a fruitwood stain ( also in my stash) to it....

I wanted to create an aged look to it.....

I think I achieved that......

I then decided to embellish that Dollar Tree sign a bit.....

I glued on some wired holly garland that I had in my craft stash....

And some red berries!!

Gives it more dimension.....

And I like the way it looks against the sled.....

I had some greenery left over after decorating the front of the house so I fluffed it up and wired it onto the sled.....

Now all I need to do is buy some natural colored rope to use to hang it with.....

I will be hanging this in the Den.....

I also went to Big Lot's and I actually walked away with a few ideas for Christmas crafts but I did buy a few things.....

These candles will be perfect, I hope, for a craft I am thinking of making and if not, they will be great to add to a center piece!!

I bought these pine cones.......

After I saw this tree in Big Lot's......

I have burlap and I have paper mache cones that I used to use to make Victorian Tussie Mussies ......

See what I mean about the inspiration for crafting????

And then I bought these to place around in vignettes for a pop of light and color!!

When I was at the Dollar Tree stores last Friday, they were unpacking more things so I may go back this week.....

I do want to share one more thing in this post.....

For the first time, I decided to change out the dishes in my Dining Room Hutch for Christmas.....

Actually, I thought of doing this so many times but simply did not have the time to do so!!

This is how the inside of the hutch looks with my collection of Moss Rose dishes.....

I have had them in there for years!!!

And this is how I changed it.....

This was Joe's Grandmother's Dining Room furniture and the shelves in the hutch are not tall enough to fit dinner plates in.....

So I used bowls and dessert plates....

Also some of my ruby red depression glass....

And a few other pieces of vintage glassware

I will most likely add a few sprigs of greenery to make it look more like Christmas once I unpack them....

And with the glass doors back on.......

I am happy with how it looks!!

I am currently working on decorating the Dining Room.....

On Sunday, I will be starting my annual Christmas Home Tour....

Not sure if I will be featuring the outside of the house first as I usually like to wait for a bit of snow or start with the upstairs like I normally do.....

But I do hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. I am looking forward to all the holiday changes in your rooms and yard! I have to say, I just LOVE the change of dishes in the hutch. The red looks so perfect, especially for Christmas. I have started my 2021 Christmas project - Operation Hallmark Christmas Inn in my master bedroom. I was off to a good, if slow, start. But now I am getting a little sidetracked. I will be sharing on my blog one of these days.

  2. I just love all your red transfer ware and red glassware. I wish I had your energy that you spend decorating. I came home from DT with the same little red door; it is just about dollhouse scale! Will have to look for those cute little books; they are perfect for a small dh scene, too!

  3. I like all of your items you found for crafting and decorating the house Debbie. It's great to get a head start on decorating outside your house so you don't have to do it in the cold weather.

  6. I feel the same way about Hobby Lobby! I love it but am pretty thankful that the closest store is not all that close to us as I tend to go a bit crazy when I get inside. I just love the "new" dishes in the hutch.

I'll admit I have a dish problem , can't resist vintage dishes lol. Love all your finds, watch out over to Hobby Lobby....just saying lol. Easy to get carried away. That sled is really nice the Amish folks really build some beautiful stuff as well as bake some yummy treats. You are a true inspiration , always putting your heart and sole into decorating, as well as your helper Mr Joe. Enjoy the season! Lisa @ Sweet Tea N' Salty Air

    1. Linda,
Happy Thanksgiving Thanks so much for stopping by!! If you mean emails as to when I post, Blogger did away with that notification and I have yet to find the time to attempt to install another email subscription service. I post on Wednesdays and Sundays so I hope that helps until I can work out the email issue...
      Hugs,
      Debbie
