I Will Honour Christmas In My Heart

I will honour Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year.
I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.
The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me.
I will not shut out the lessons that they teach!

Spot Light On Series : Blogger Kim Poovey: Victorian Parlor II, Bearton Abbey

Today, I am going to start a new Series on my Blog, Debbie-Dabble, where I Shine the Spotlight On Something that interests me!

It could be a Person, A Place or a Topic......Anything that inspires and excited me!

I decided to share this Series on my Christmas Blog too!

I would like to start with shining the Spotlight on my Bloggy Friend, Kim Poovey.

Kim was one of the first Bloggers to reach out and become a friend when I started to blog over 4 years ago.

Kim is a Victorian Soul, and she reflects that passion in her beautiful home, as a Historic Reenactress and an Author!!!

Kim's original Blog was Victorian Parlor
(  http://thevictorianparlor.blogspot.com/  )  where she shared her beautiful home and love for the Victorian Era.

I want to share 2 posts that touched my own heart and that I will never forget !!

I will tell you why after you read these 2 posts:

Fairy Tale-Part I

Once upon a time there was a lovely cottage...
overlooking lush gardens filled with flowers...

and roses...

and shaded places for birds to be refreshed.
Inside the cottage elegance was found throughout.

For you see these people had a dream...
for Victorian splendor to the highest degree!
Alas, an historic Victorian seemed out of reach...
but this did not stop them from creating...
a Victorian home filled with love.
They were blessed with a new home and continued their vision since owning an historic home was well beyond reach...

until one day when...

Fairy Tale-Part II

No fairy tale is complete without delicate flowers dripping with drops of dew...
or the soft spray of lacelike buds.
A great place to capture such beauty is the garden area of a historic home.
Inspiration can be found from old homes when creating your own future historic home:).
Capturing such loveliness through photos can make one feel closer to their dreams no matter how impossible they may seem.
But sometimes God has other plans...
after all, nothing is impossible with God.
And so what began as a fairy tale becomes a walk of faith.
A welcoming garden gate leading to...
the historic touches that make a Victorian cottage special.
It's the details of old architecture...
the simple reminders of a day at the beach...
and a warm welcome home to relax.
Dreams of rocking away in a wicker rocker while breezes softy billow...
ah yes, the glorious wonderment of dreams.
But some dreams do come true...
when the hand of God is upon you.
Visions become reality.
And before you know it you hold the key to your dreams.
If you have not yet figured it out, we have been blessed by God with a dream come true.
Welcome to Faith Cottage where God's love is always in bloom.
This 1890 Victorian cottage was officially ours yesterday afternoon.
So please forgive me my dear friends if absent I may seem,
for you see I will be busy enjoying the blessing of a dream:).
Come back soon to see what is beyond the front door:).
Blessings to you all dearest friends!

I was so HAPPY that I cried  knowing my friend Kim had realized her dream ( a dream we shared ) of owning her own Victorian home!!

Kim moved in and then moved on to a new Blog called  Victorian Parlor II
(  http://thevictorianparlor2.blogspot.com/  )

Here is a link to Kim's post on The Story of Faith Cottage

Kim frequently posts  The Kramer Chronicles where this guy is the Story Teller
Frequent Characters in the Kramer Chronicles are Kramer of course.....
 And these two.....

Kim is an excellent Story Teller....

She has created another Blog called, Bearton Abbey at Canterbeary Lane,
(  http://beartonabbey.blogspot.com/  ) where she spins tales based on just a few of these characters.......

As you can tell, Kim's Tales are based on her version of Downton Abbey and are highly entertaining!!

Kim is also an author of a book.........Truer Words

This is Kim portraying her main character:

Emma Victoria Brown

Emma Victoria Brown
Emma is the main character in the fictional novel Truer Words. She is a strong-willed, independent woman who is not afraid to stand up for what is right. Raised on a wealthy plantation in the Lowcountry of South Carolina during the Victorian era, Emma's life is not as simple as it appears. Her family holds a secret that could cost them their lives if discovered. But for Emma, doing the right thing is worth the risk.

Here is an AMAZING video that I wish you would watch of Kim , playing  Emma ........

I ordered my book after watching this video and I am sure you will want your own copy too!!

Here is a description of Truer Words taken from

Truer Words

Truer Words
A Novel
by Kim Poovey
'...you're going to stand beside me at the wedding.'
Her expression quickly turned solemn and she let loose of my hands. 'We're not children anymore. We can't ignore the reality of our situation. You know I can't possibly stand next to you at the wedding. I'll be lucky enough to watch from the upstairs window.'
'Nonsense! If you can't stand next to me at my own wedding, then I just won't get married!'
Growing up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, a young girl has certain expectations—prim, proper, and passive. Emma Brown, however, is not like most girls. She swims in her Sunday dress, passes the days sitting in a tree, and refuses to fall in love. Like most girls, she has her best friend, Charlotte, throughout it all. But Charlotte might be exactly what's keeping her from living a life like the other girls her age.
When Emma leaves home to attend medical school in Pennsylvania, she realizes her family is living with a dangerous secret that could destroy their way of life.
Returning to her sheltered world on the family plantation strong willed Emma meets the man of her dreams and will do just about anything to become the proper girl she should have once been. But will he accept the true Emma Brown?
When the Civil War impacts the ones she loves, Emma does what any good-hearted, rebellious southerner would—she disguises as a man and goes to the battle field. While nursing wounded soldiers Emma learns that life isn't about following the rules, it's not even about not following the rules—it's about being true to you. And with that she knows there are no Truer Words.

  1. Hi Debbie,
What a lovely post! Your friend has a beautiful home and those flowers are gorgeous.
I decided to try to leave a comment here on your Christmas blog because I have been having trouble with your Debbie-Dabble blog for several weeks. When last you linked up with my tea party, I couldn't read all of it nor could I leave a comment because my computer kept freezing on me. Unfortuntaely, I couldn't even email you to let you know why I had not left a comment. I have this same trouble with one other blog. I will have to wait until my son comes home in July to get this fixed. He is familiar with how a blog works and should be able to fix the problem.
So, my apologies for not commenting and I'm glad at least I could let you know why here. Have a beautiful day, my friend.

    Blessings and hugs,
    Sandi
