I Will Honour Christmas In My Heart

I will honour Christmas in my heart,
and try to keep it all the year.
I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future.

HOME TOUR 2011 , Part 2, the KITCHEN

Update, April 2012

I am entering this post of our Kitchen decorated for Christmas in the Talent Scouting Party over at Whisperwood Cottage for Cottage and Bungalow Magazine for "All Things Kitchen".

Please click HERE to view all the entries in the party.

And now to my original post of our Kitchen decorated at Christmas.....

Welcome to Part 2 of our Progressive HOME TOUR.

If you missed Part 1, the Front Yard, please click HERE

For those of you who have visited my regular blog, Debbie-Dabble, you know that we re-did our Kitchen in the Summer. I have been very happy with how the Kitchen looks now.

If you would like to read about out Kitchen redo, please click HERE

I am starting our room tour in the Kitchen because I have been itching to decorate the Kitchen for Christmas.........

So I will start with the little tree in the Kitchen....

This is Tree # 1......

I started with 2 slightly different sets of Peppermint Candy lights and a set of lights that the bulbs are half red and half white....

You can see the 3 different light sets on the 3 foot tree that I put in my Kitchen Milk Can.....

I made a new bow of the top of the tree.......

The tree is decorated with candy and gingerbread ornaments......

Here is what it looks like lit....

You can see that it sits in the milk can and fits in the corner by the desk and hutch.....When there is a will, there is a way!!

I do love the way the Christmas decorations look against the red wall.....

View from the side coming from the Living Room down the hall way.....

Lit at night....

Here is the one wall in the Kitchen......

You know how much I love the Candle light feature on my camera....

This is the Hutch decorated for Christmas.....

My Kitchen Santa's.....

Both were purchased at J.C. Penney's....

This one I have had for quite some time...

This is the one that I just bought....

I was amazed at how much these Santa's went up in price. This one was $50.00 !!
It was marked down to 50% off and I have a coupon for an additional 10% off and also a JCP reward for $10.00 off. I paid about $16.00!

Candle holders filled with Candy Canes instead of candles and another new bow.......

The 2 shelves in the Hutch.....

The top shelf.....

I replaced some of the things that I normally have on display in this hutch with some Christmas items.....

A Snowman Tea Pot and a Christmas Candy Cookie Jar......

The little Gingerbread houses you will see on these shelves are ornaments from the Christmas Tree Shop which were $1.00 a piece but I have a 20% off Total Purchase Coupon!

On this side, pretty much everything has been left alone except for adding some Christmas picks and greenery to the yellow enamel Coffee Pot......

This is the left side of the second shelf. I have shared this vintage bowl filled with cookie cutters with you before and I was so flattered to see that someone posted my pic of it on Pinterest!

But I do need to tell you the story about this. I had this bowl filled with the cookie cutters sitting on the ledge where my Kitchen window ( we removed it when we made our patio into another room) used to be. When I started to decorate for Christmas, I didn't want to pack it away so I moved some things off the shelves of the hutch and stuck the bowl on the shelf and threw a few candy canes in it to make it look Christmasy!! I like it so much there on the shelf in the hutch that it will most likely stay there after Christmas!! So I didn't put the cookie cutters in there as a Christmas decoration!! LOL!!

On the right side of the second shelf , I left pretty much everything where it was but removed a vintage bowl that had apples painted on it and replaced it with a red and white dotted Tea Pot inside of a Tea Cozy that a friend of mine made!!

And I filled the tea pot with some Christmas picks and greenery!

And on the desk, I have set up a bit of a Sweet Shop....

Santa's Sweet Shop tin sign I bought at an old Walmart that was turned into a Merchant's MarketPlace last year!! I fell in love with this sign!

The placemat is from the Dollar tree!

I have all kinds of "faux" goodies on display...

I just bought this cute candy tree at The Christmas Tree Shop. I filled some apothecary jars with Christmas candy.

The small cupcake and the dessert in a little covered dish are ornaments. The large cupcake is a candle bought at Kohl's last year and the dish I have it placed in and the cookie ornament were just bought at The Christmas Tree Shop. Those candy colored dishes were only $1.00!!

I love this Candy decorated House!! I bought it a few years ago on Clearance at a local store for a mere $6.00!!

And I filled a green depression glass dish with more ornaments.....

And the other side.....
This small Kitchen Santa came from Cracker Barrel about 6 years ago!

Here is what the hutch looks like lit up at night. I have candle lights on the shelves....

The huge candy cane ornament in the middle also came from the Christmas Tree Shop this year....

Just had to show you this wall one more time.
I am so glad that I painted the back of the hutch and the shelves red.....

This is looking out into our Den.....

Above the door way to the Den ,which used to be our patio , and this was the back door of the house originally....

A Christmas Cookie plate, red star bottles from The Christmas Tree Shop, glass candy garland which was a Flea Market find and candy strips from the Dollar Tree this year.

Above my stove......

More ornaments and magnets......

The sign hung up on the soffit....

Pillsbury Dough Boy Pot holder and vintage looking plaque....

This is where our Kitchen window used to be....

I took the valance down that I had hanging here and moved it ( you will see it later) and put up lighted garland....
Candy ornaments are hanging from the garland .....

At night.....

I bought this swag about 8 years ago on Clearance at T.J. Max for $5.00!! I redid it a bit this year, adding candy picks and a new bow!!

I posted about this chandy on my regular blog awhile ago. It was black and I spray painted it white. I bought it on Clearance at Ross for Less for $3.00!!
I added some Christmas greenery to it and hung my small vintage Kitchen utensil ornaments from it and a snow man ornament in the center.....

This is the ledge that I mentioned before when talking about where the vintage bowl filled with cookie cutters was originally...

More ornaments hug on the side of the cabinets...

A ceramic Kitchen Santa......

This is just a plain red vase filled with a set of 20 clear lights and a hanging ball of berries and apples placed on top......

The other side of the cabinet....

This Christmas Head Vase was a gift from a friend.....

This is the view looking into the Kitchen from the Den.....

I do love the way it looks lit up....

Looking into the Kitchen from the Dining Room......
Ignore those coffee mugs on the counter...

On the counter in the corner, I have a Santa Head Planter filled and lit resting on top of a copper planter, covered with a vintage Christmas napkin....

Another wall in the Kitchen.....

This sign was another gift from a friend and I have loved it since I received it!!

The top of the Refrigerator.....

A few Gingerbread items......

The Gingerbread people, jar and charger all came from The Christmas Tree Shop

Gingerbread house was another gift from a friend.....

With the lamp on....

Looking into the Dining Room....

More gingerbread men......

Okay, this was a pass through from the Dining Room in to the Kitchen but I did not want to be able to see the Kitchen from the Dining Room so I hung curtains, creating a "fake" window!!

Here is the copper wired 3 tier basket that was a flea market find for 25 cents....

More garland hung and decorated with sugared apple and gingerbread cookie ornaments and candy garland......

I took the fruit out of the basket and bought large candy ornaments again, at The Christmas Tree Shop, and put them in the baskets....

Couldn't resist this red glittered " SWEET" sign.....

The Counter Bar.....

A few Christmas Salt and Pepper Shaker sets.....

Penguin Cookie Jar ( Target After Christmas Clearance)

Vintage Boot found at a yard sale and candy cane mug for pencils and pens....

Another Cookie jar from Target.....

A cute chopping board with Penguins and Postage Stamps for Joe ( remember he is a mail man) and cupcakes and gingerbread men for me!!

On the side of the counter bar, I hung a cute simple wreath with another ornament inside of it....

With the lamp on......
Remember the valance that I mentioned before?? It was on a spring tension rod so I hung it in the door way to the Kitchen from the hall way!!!

And added some candy garland to it!!

So that is my Kitchen decorated for Christmas and Tree # 1......

Next on our Progressive Home Tour is our DINING ROOM.

  7. Hi Debbie, I was dropping by to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and was greeted with a wonderland of Christmas. Everything is fabulous. You know how I love your decor and the vignettes you create all around. My decorating will be tomorrow and I came to the right place for my inspiration.
I just caught up on all your posts so I don't miss a thing. Love it.
What a would like to know, where and how do you store your decorations between seasons? I use large rubbermaid containers and place them in a attic walk up with labels and such.

Have a special and blessed day sweet girl.

  10. I sure am enjoying your Christmas tours of your beautiful home! I've been pinning your photos too. I think you may love RED even more than I do. I haven't started decorating yet but we did finish our annual Christmas letter for our Christmas cards. I may try to drag out our exterior decorations tomorrow (before the rain comes again). Your kitchen is just stunning! It doesn't matter the size of your home...you have made yours a happy one.

  11. Oh Deb I do not know what to say. Everything looks so totally awesome. I just love the bowl and cookie cutters. And the story is behind it is great. Your teapot and cozy arrangement is so nice. And I love all your kitchen Santas.

I just have to comment on your tree. It is just so pretty. Your are after my heart with it. I also do my kitchen tree in candy and gingerbread. We must be long lost sisters with liking so many of the same things.

I hope to be all decorated on Sunday here. Just been way to busy it seems.
Again I just love the way your kitchen looks.

  23. Oh Debbie, I am so glad to see someone that decorates more than I do. I love Christmas and sometimes think I go over board. But then a girl I know that has a shop (she also decorates homes for people) told me that she just finished a ladies home that had 84 trees; yes, 84! Your decor is fantastic, love it all! Especially the bowl full of vintage cooking items! I do a candy gingerbread themed tree in my living room. Happy Holidays!

  24. The decorating elves have certainly been busy at your home. Thanks for sharing your photos. My favorite vignette was the bowl filled with cookie cutters. Brings back a flood of childhood memories. ;-)

  26. Oh Debbie, you are already in the Christmas mood and anyone who sees your house must be too! I love your cookie cutters, but especially the gingerbread one. We've had the same cutter as long as I can remember, and that cookie cutter was always my favorite to use. Partly because it was cute and partly because it made the biggest cookies. Important to a kid, you know!

I don't normally mention my blog on other people's blogs, but I'm having a Gingerbread Party starting Dec. 1st. I'd love for you to link up your fun kitchen. Details are on my blog if you're interested.

Hope you have a wonderful December!

  45. Debbie, I just toured the kitchen! Wow such happiness in there. I love the bowl of vintage cookie cutters because I believe I used every one at one time as a little girl making my own cookies. Boy did that bring back memories. What is always mind blowing to me is how you fit so many items into a room and it all comes out looking wonderful. That is a rare talent/gift you have! I will come back in a few days to take more tours. Blessings.
